Elections in Sierra Leone and rumors of War: The Role of Women
That morning, many of us walked into the conference hall undecided as what was going to be the fate of elections in Sierra Leone. Even some of the delegates who were confident at Bintumani1 were undecided as they took their seats. But the big blow came when the Force Commander of the Army denied security to the citizens of Sierra Leone on Election Day. There was complete silence, as the Commander made his announcement; all we could hear were our hearts throbbing. That was not intimidating enough to stop delegates from casting their votes in a room full of military personnel with bazookas and ak-47s - as if we were in a war zone.

SIA TIYAAMA AND HIS/HER FARRAGO OF NONSENSICAL EFFUSIONS
Folklore has it that when the full moon appears in the sky, the “crazies” exhibit their craziness. So, it is election time in Sierra Leone and crazies like Sia Tiyaama and his (her) ilk are out in the open spreading half truths, distortions of facts, and outright lies. I have read ad nauseam the pontifications of the so-called professor Sia Tiyaama on a number of issues relating to Sierra Leone in Awareness Times and other online media.

Sierra Leone Economist asks: Where is the Moral Outrage?
...it appeared that Cocorioko had swallowed (hook, line, and sinker) the APC-PMDC propaganda that the SLPP intended to rig a presidential election that they will easily win in the first round. Additionally, contrary to the most sacred canon of responsible journalism (which is to check the veracity of so-called news items before they are printed), the paper has continued to publish outright fabrications by Morie Moussaffa about SLPP plans to rig the forthcoming elections and, most recently, alleged SLPP attacks on PMDC loyalists.

Democracy and Violence cannot be Bedfellows in Sierra Leone
A few days ago, I was informed about an alleged incident involving Tom Nyuma and Ernest Koroma or a coterie of persons associated with these well-known figures. It is public knowledge that the former NPRC strongman now campaigns for the ruling party and the latter happens to be the presidential candidate of APC, which misruled Sierra Leone for the best part of my youth and early adult life, a party that was eventually kicked out of office by officers of the NPRC regime.

Is APC/RUF Revenging On NPRC Lads in Sierra Leone?
This article is like a mini-skirt, short but to the point. And it concerns a Press Release issued last Monday by the All People’s Congress (APC) Party that former Secretary of State for the Eastern Region during the reign of the now defunct National Provisional Ruling Council (NPRC), Mr. Tom Nyuma recently attempted to assassinate the Leader and Presidential Candidate of the All People’s Congress (APC) Party, Mr. Ernest Bai Koroma in his hotel room in Bo.

Violence in Sierra Leone: WHAT THE PRESIDENT SHOULD DO NOW
Some of my worst fears, as expressed in my last article, have been accentuated by recent events. Bodyguards of the All Peoples Congress (APC) leader Ernest Koroma, including a murderous former Revolutionary United Front (RUF) thug with the appropriately lugubrious name Leather Boot, beat to a pulp Tom Nyuma (a former member of a military junta who now supports the rival Sierra Leone Peoples Party, SLPP) and vandalized the Countryside Guesthouse in Bo.

FAKE ASSASINATION ATTEMPTS: APC and PMDC plan to Disrupt Elections and call for Interim Government in Sierra Leone Presidential Election .
It is becoming clear that the ruling party is set to win the upcoming elections and accusations from the opposition are splattered all over the place. The opposition embarked on a campaign of threats, innuendoes, and outright lies long ago. It seems they are now ready to execute the plans. First, Charles Margai started the threats of violence, promising to bring violence to the nation if he loses the elections. Ernest Koroma who is not an original thinker joined the cause of threats.

VIOLENCE & ELECTIONS IN SIERRA LEONE
Over lunch the other day at Chatham House in London with some old friends there, I was asked – apropos of something that I had recently published in that venerable Think Tank’s magazine World Today on Sierra Leone’s forthcoming elections in August – my views about the much-speculated prospects of widespread violence during the polls.

PMDC Spokesman Condemns Awareness Times Newspaper in Sierra Leone
The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC) Mr. Mohamed Bangura has damned the Awareness Times Newspaper as being a one sided newspaper that was set up by President Kabbah to support the ruling SLPP Government and Vice President Berewa. According to Bangura, the only use for the Awareness Times in PMDC Offices was when PMDC supporters were going to the toilet and needed material to clean up after they used the toilet.

Moiie’s Column SOLO ‘D’ BOMBA SLPP Presidential Candidate
The last time I wrote about SOLO"B" was during the SLPP convention in Makeni when he won tenfold with all the total put together of other Aspirants for the leadership of the party and Presidential Candidacy. The heading was HURRICANE SOLO "B"

How Significant is the Sierra Leone People's Party Manifesto?
Manifestoes are documents that reflect the policy aims and objectives of political parties all over the world. Projects that are to be carried out by political parties when elected as governments, are not only catalogued in these manifestoes, but also used as a campaign tool in order to convince the electorates to cast their votes for them.

Vote NO! to APC Or Face The Consequences
Last Saturday the SLPP accompanied its leader and Presidential candidate Solomon E. Berewa and Running mate, Momodu Koroma to their nominations at Wellington. The entire city, from Waterloo to Tokeh, was painted green.

A REBUTTAL TO SIA TIYAAMA’S Article Entitled ‘Ernest Koroma’s Agenda: What a Joke!
I have read so many of Sia Tiyaama’s writings over time. In the beginning I used to enjoy his work. I considered him to be forthright and conscientious in his ideas. But sometimes when I read his diatribe with the infamous former Ambassador John Leigh, I sometimes go to bed with mixed feelings.

Salone Youths are not Idlers Says FBC’s University Lecturer
A researcher and lecturer at the Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone who also works in partnership with the World Bank in Sierra Leone, Mohamed Gibril Sesay has categorically denied the long time negative perception by some people who have classified the youths of Sierra Leone as idlers who have no focus for their future in the country.

Yankuba Kaisamba Speaks: “Why I Decided to Quit SLPP”
For several decades, I have watched our country being grossly misruled by different shades of Governments. There are common trends between the previous failed governments and the current SLPP led governments of president Kabba. They have all been corrupt and failed to tackle corruption.
