The Queen said: "In the parks of towns and cities, and on village greens up and down the country, countless thousands of people every week give up their time to participate in sport and exercise of all sorts, or simply encourage others to do so. "These kinds of activity are common throughout the world and play a part in providing a different perspective on life." Her Majesty was even comfortable with footage, showing Princes William and Harry and a group of young African orphans from Lesotho bonding as they play football, which was included in the broadcast.

The Miscalculated Mischief of a former Military Ruler aspiring to be President of Sierra Leone
In November this year, the news spread like wildfire that a supporter of Maada Bio had his eye gouged out by a supposed supporter of John Benjamin. IT WAS A BIG WICKED LIE! However, the manufacturers of that wicked lie had an agenda which was to make John Benjamin look like a violent man encouraging violence against peaceful citizens. Most commendably, in the interest of his SLPP’s party image, John Benjamin took it all on his chin and never made any public utterance to correct the wrong information. According to John Benjamin, he was willing to be walked all over rather than open up a public debate which would call more press attention to what was a very unfortunate development at the SLPP Headquarters instigated by Maada Bio's supporters with Bio's tacit endorsement. To the chagrin of his close friends and family, John Benjamin was once again willing to sacrifice his reputation in order to protect the SLPP!

On Trivialities & Play Cooking
The SLPP has been in a state of semi-shock over the past few days. Following Maada Bio’s foolish phone call last week Friday to growl and intimidate my journalist Abdul Karim Fonti, the SLPP especially Maada Bio & his Gang, has been tasting the acidic side of Awareness Times and the fall-out is so interesting! The accusations and counter-accusations! Wow! The problem with the SLPP is that it is being confused by certain persons therein who think they know about politics when they really know NOTHING about politics. They are Playcook Politicians. They never know the issues to hit on. They waste time on trivialities. They are not strategic thinkers. They never calculate what might be the reaction to any step they take.

Paul Kamara: Fitness vs. Eligibility
I hate doing media ping-pong on issues that are as crystal clear and constitutionally transparent like the current debating regarding misguided appointment by President Ernest Koroma of journalist Paul Kamara. Quack constitutional interpretations have been proffered by all sizes and shapes in relation to whether Kamara should be approved by parliament or not with regards to Paul prior conviction in a high court. Let’s face this fact here from the onset: the issue here is not about Paul’s fitness for the position of Cabinet Minister. This is not about Paul’s persona but about Paul’s eligibility. Legal morons should stop hoodwinking that fraud is only restricted to monetary involvement.

Maada Bio: SLPP’s Foolish Aspirant!
Alusine Mohamed Kamara is a 30 years old ardent supporter of the main opposition Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP). He joined the SLPP in 1995 when he was fifteen years. At the time, he was attending secondary school in Freetown. He has stayed loyal to the party for the last fifteen years which is a period spanning half his life. Sadly, he is today nursing a huge, barely-healed scar just over his left eye as a result of the thuggery that supporters of SLPP Presidential Aspirant Julius Maada Bio, have imported into the SLPP Headquarters in Central Freetown. Alusine almost had his left eye gouged out on the night of Monday November 1st 2010 and the police are still hunting for the five Maada Bio supporters who attacked Alusine Kamara but one rarely hears about Alusine’s pathetic case but what you will hear is that one of Maada Bio’s supporters, Raymond Adams had his own eye allegedly gouged out two days later. But what really happened at the SLPP Party headquarters on Wednesday 3rd November 2010 that caused Raymond Adams to have the Police charge Patrick Sinnie to court for Wounding with Intent?

Journalist Paul Kamara & Justice Tolla-Thompson: Our National Constitution Must be Obeyed!
Kindly publish my views on this current topical issue. As a former journalist who worked with Mr. Paul Kamara at For Di People newspaper for a long period of time spanning several years including the time he was charged to court to face High Court Judge Umu-Hawa Tejan-Jalloh, I want to make my input after reading the beautiful Awareness Times internet article by Dr. Sylvia Blyden whilst browsing the Internet from my desk up here in Bo City where I now lecture at the Njala University.

This is for Maada Bio!
It is good to hear that retired Brigadier-General Maada Bio has warned his supporters to refrain from their current unruly acts that have only served to greatly reduce the respect that many people had been bearing for him. How any Presidential aspirant will think having Marijuana (Djamba) smokers and lawless thugs as the vanguard of his aspirations is a wonder!

APC Leader Criticised for Appointing Non-APC Members
On Friday December 4, 2010, I was in Los Angeles some 450 miles from my base in Oakland California attending the funeral of a very dear friend and brother Mr. Donald Georgestone aka “Georgie”. On my way back while comfortably reclining in the passenger’s seat of the car, I opted to search my email and to my amazement saw a post by Kabbs-Kanu, with regards to the cabinet reshuffle and the appointment of JB Dauda as Sierra Leone’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. I couldn’t believe what I was reading and was so angry at my President for this appointment that I saw the need to immediately call Kabbs kanu at 3 am East Coast time (My apologies) to ask him if this was true.

Justice Tolla Thompson vs. Paul Kamara: Section 26 vs. Section 27 of Public Order Laws
I have steered totally clear of opposing the appointment of Mr. Paul Kamara as Minister of Youth Employment and Sports because despite what I might personally feel about Paul Kamara’s undue hateful antagonism towards my person, his proposed elevation by President Koroma, simply cannot be said to be inimical to the interest of our country. If Paul is approved and manages to stay focussed on the job as a Cabinet Minister, Paul Kamara can definitely perform wonders for Sierra Leone youths. It can never be forgotten the yeoman and herculean efforts he put into local football that helped ensure the likes of Mohamed Kallon and other footballers are what they are today. History will be very kind to him in that respect.

APC Writers Desperate for Sylvia’s Endorsement
Many people wonder why I rarely react to APC journalists when they write and write and write about me. It is because I am matured enough to understand that half of them, despite the facade, are really desperately seeking my endorsement of what their APC party is doing. For example, if I had endorsed their recent ‘Kalo Kalo’ Cabinet reshuffle, they would have been over the moon! They pretend as if they hate me but in reality, they just want my attentive endorsement. This attention-seeking can be the only reason why my brother, APC Editor Cornelius Deveaux made up that his yesterday front page article containing an alleged interview with me in which I supposedly told their APC newspaper my views about my maternal grandfather, S.A.J. Pratt supposedly donating expensive Generator Transformers to Regent and Gloucester villages in order to boost APC.

Sierra Leone, only a Rogue will say his source is "According to Rumor"
By popular demand, we have decided to reproduce the infamous U.S. Embassy Cable which reveals that US Embassy sources for secret dispatches are now “according to rumor” and “media reports”. A big bunch of jokers embarrassing the great United States by calling themselves U.S. diplomats, now source rumors & unsubstantiated media reports to file damaging reports against Sierra Leonean citizens! Some respectable SLPP members were not happy with my yesterday demolition of Glenn Fedzer’s nonsense against President Koroma which they had wanted to use for propaganda purposes. One of them fondly accused me yesterday of possessing “too much integrity for your own good!”.
Dec 9, 2010, 17:18

That Foolish American Embassy Cable From Sierra Leone!
If even we leave aside the point that Glenn Fedzer is ignorant of the fact that Kemoh Sesay was Ernest Koroma’s Shadow Transport Minister when Ernest Koroma was the Opposition Leader, if Glenn Fedzer can write with confidence, his utter rubbish that Kemoh Sesay used to be a member of SLPP Government from 1996 to 2002, then can we even believe anything else inside that so-called Diplomatic Dispatch such as the unproven allegation that it was President Koroma who stopped the police from arresting Kemoh Sesay? And can we give any credence to the wicked innuendo that President Koroma deployed Kemoh Sesay to Transport Ministry to coordinate cocaine smuggling?

What Happens to the Zainab Bangura’s Portraits?
It will be recalled that just as was predicted by Awareness Times a few weeks back, Madam Zainab Hawa Bangura has been replaced as Foreign Minister by the precise name we had stated she would be replaced with; which is J.B. Dauda. This, alongside our outing of the Tamba Borbor Sawyer scenario shows we are usually on top of Sierra Leone’s intelligence gathering media scene. However, the removal of Madam Zainab Bangura whilst it has brought about huge joy to the Foreign Office, has left a dilemma on the hands of ministry’s staff over what to do with all the framed portraits of Madam Zainab Bangura currently littering all of Sierra Leone’s diplomatic missions around the world in an unprecedented manner that has caused much media and parliamentary umbrage against the move to place the then Foreign Minister’s portraits in our missions.

What a Cabinet Reshuffle? A Look at the recent Cabinet Reshuffle in Sierra Leone
President Ernest Bai Koroma has finally released the long awaited cabinet reshuffle list. Prior to the reshuffle, it was widely anticipated that the new cabinet will not only be of a national character but will comprise of a team capable of turning Sierra Leone around for the better. It is however, sad to note that the expectations of the citizens were thwarted on Saturday 4th December 2010 when the cabinet reshuffle, full of confusion and northern ministers, was announced.

Jail Break? Who Let The ‘Dogs’ Out?
Several hardcore criminals escaped from the Pademba Road prisons in the afternoon hours of Sunday 5th December 2010 and the circumstances surrounding the escape remains a mystery. The 19 confirmed escapees include a convict who was serving a jail term sentence of 60 years after being convicted of robbery with aggravation and others standing trials for various offences ranging from robbery with aggravation, conspiracy, house breaking and larceny, to possession of forged bank notes.

Meet Sylvia Olayinka Blyden : Culled from Facebook Page
Dr. Sylvia Olayinka Walmina Oreshola Blyden is easily one of Sierra Leone’s most admired women currently. She has over the years, won over many people to become her unabashed admirers. Some, whom were previously her bitterest critics, today stand amongst her greatest fans. This is as a result of her consistent, fearless and courageous positions. She does not hesitate to stand up and speak out for what she believes to be right; positions that usually end up to indeed be the right one but which saw her sometimes going against strong and powerful winds of opposing voices. With undiluted proficiency in her academic studies that saw her enter the Annie Walsh School with the best Selective Entrance results of entrants in 1982 and saw her leave the Annie Walsh with the best GCE O’Levels in 1987, she was to graduate with the best B.Sc. results from Medical School in 1993 and again graduate with proficiency in 1996 with an M.D in Medicine during which period she emerged as Sierra Leone’s first woman to be elected as University students’ leader in 1994; beating two male candidates in a landslide victory.

Let the Show Continue... Let the Games Go On... No Wahala for this Sierra Leone Lady!
An assurance I can give to those manufacturing trashy lies against others in the name of defending President Koroma is that President Koroma will surely end up being fair game in reaction. And as the United Nations Schulenburg-Nega team here is all about to find out, lies do not hold up – whether coded lies or non-coded lies, a lie is a lie and will never hold up to Posterity. Only the truth holds up. If you Ernest Koroma’s handlers write manufactured nonsense that Sylvia Blyden is a liar who failed medical school even though Sylvia Blyden not only has two University degrees from Medical School but she graduated top of her class from Medical School and Sylvia Blyden has never failed an academic examination in her entire life, then I will not respond to your personal attacks and lies but when an issue of Presidential Lies comes up and I have the option to exercise discretion or write about it in the public interest, well, you can guess what I will do...

Reflections of Christmas in Sierra Leone
The thought of Christmas really evokes a sense of nostalgia which is almost impossible to articulate. I remember the ‘good old days’ in the late 60s and early 70s – what an incredible feeling the whole idea of Christmas conjured? I recall the cool dry dusty winds of the harmattan, blowing south from the Sahara in December, pounding your face, leaving it dry in white powder; the brisk momentum of the days and nights leading up to Christmas; the half leveraged Christmas decorations in shop windows glittering through the nights; bright colourful light bulbs sprinkled on Christmas trees, hanging loose without the prospect of being pinched by some ‘good for nothing’ deviant. Sounds like fiction? Well, it isn’t!

70% Northerners in “Kalo-Kalo” Cabinet reshuffle in Sierra Leone
In the local Creole parlance, ‘Kalo-Kalo’ refers to an attempt to pass on a supposedly tangible development to an audience but the audience is left unimpressed with your attempt. This recent Cabinet Reshuffle as announced past weekend, is being described as a Kalo-Kalo Cabinet Reshuffle.
