THE DECISION TO BAN THE SALE OF TIMBER WITHIN SIERRA LEONE- WHOSE BRAIN DEAD IDEA WAS IT ?
How could anyone in his or her right mind talk about development from one side of the mouth and from the other side ban the domestic use of timber? Why do those in authority always come up with easy solutions to problems, instead of sitting down and solving problems with practical solutions? Should a ban on the exportation of timber also have encompassed a ban on the domestic use of timber? The decision to ban the sale of timber locally, which is used for the production of boards, widely used in the construction industry without doubt was a brain dead idea

Sierra Leone Corruption & "Her Excellency" Zainab Hawa Bangura! - full version
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ms. Zainab Hawa Bangura said in New York this morning (Tuesday, 26th March, 2010) that the government of Sierra Leone has made significant strides in the pursuit of sustainable peace in Sierra Leone... Furthering her showcase of the efforts by government in peace consolidation, she made reference to government’s efforts in consistently combating drug trafficking, and corruption in particularly high places. "The recent indictment of high-profiled public and private individuals are a clear manifestation of President Ernest Bai Koroma’s resolve that sacred cows are things of the past," Her Excellency affirmed. - Cocorioko Newspaper (Tuesday March 26th 2010)

Dr. Sama Banya Takes On UN’s Schulenburg
When we lost the result of the 2007 Presidential election to the APC’s Ernest Bai Koroma now his Excellency the President, the APC wrote us off. They gloated that we were not only down but supposedly very demoralized and out. It did not happen then nor has it or is it likely to happen. We have demonstrated to them and to those who helped them by means fair or foul, our determination and resilience to bounce back.

If Abdul Tejan-Cole is a Honourable Man
One of Sierra Leone’s outstanding lawyers spoke to me over the weekend and he asked me if I still considered Anti Corruption Commissioner Abdul Tejan-Cole as "a brilliant lawyer and a man of integrity"? He was sarcastically using the precise words I had once used to strongly defend Abdul Tejan-Cole to this very same lawyer some few months back. My response was that I am weighing the odds depending on whether Tejan-Cole does the honourable thing soonest: i.e: RESIGN!

Finally, the SLPP’s Sell-Game Emmanuel Tommy Exposed
For a very long time now, this newspaper has questioned antics of Hon. Emmanuel Tommy, the Opposition SLPP’s Minority Leader in Parliament insofar as his propensity to sell-out the interests of his SLPP Party for that of President Koroma & the ruling APC. Well, an April 6th 2010 article in a tabloid with close links to President Koroma has exposed Tommy as having a Le250,000,000 (Two Hundred and Fifty Million Leones) deal made in Year 2008 with President Koroma in which Tommy got Le250,000,000 cash in hand to complete a Government hospital for Kono that Tommy had allegedly abandoned halfway through completion.

Tejan Kabbah is Sierra Leone’s Greatest Leader so far
When I read in the Monday, March 15, 2010 edition of the Awoko newspaper Minister Alpha Kanu’s assertion that Sierra Leone has had ONLY three GREAT LEADERS namely: Sir Milton Margai, Siaka Probyn Stevens and the current President, Ernest Bai Koroma, what first came to mind was that the Minister was merely being presumptuously deceitful and sacrilegiously economical with the truth and a deliberate attempt to distort history. How can anyone genuinely grade Sierra Leone’s leaders since independence and leave out Alhaji Dr. Ahmed Tejan Kabbah?

Political Party Foot Soldiers
Over the Easter Break, I found time to visit with one of my favourite people, former President Alhaji Dr. Ahmad Tejan Kabbah. His wife, Isatu Kabbah (IJK) the current Women’s Leader of the main opposition Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) had just returned from a trip out of Freetown to Kambia District where she had gone with loyal party supporters to spread SLPP’s message. The SLPP loyalists on arrival looked tired, haggard and covered in dusty sweat. One thing came across to me distinctly whilst I was observing them and that was their deep commitment to SLPP.

Vulnerable Middle Performing States Falter on Democracy
Washington, D.C.—April 7, 2010: States occupying the political "middle ground" confront increasingly difficult challenges in improving democratic governance, according to a new study released by Freedom House. In this year’s Countries at the Crossroads assessment, declines exceeded improvements in both number and degree, with widespread efforts by governments cross-regionally to restrict freedom of expression and association in particular.

Sheki Bangura & Commercial Bank in Indian Rice Saga
Numerous documents in the possession of this newspaper indicates clear abuse of office by Mr. Sheki Bangura, the husband of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Zainab Hawa Bangura in which he seems to be using his position as Chairman of the Board of the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank (SLCB) to approve huge loans to persons with little managerial experience & no collateral worthiness simply because of close links to the President.

Women’s Empowerment and Employment: A tribute to Mrs. Posseh (Beatrice) Njai
A few days ago, on Thursday, 25th March 2010, I participated in a conference entitled "Women’s Empowerment and Employment", convened by the Danish Government in Copenhagen. Three female UN system chief executives were invited, along with many other prominent women from all over the world and from all walks of life. Politics, business, academia, judiciary, civil society: all were represented. The organizers had asked me to take part in a discussion on "crossing cultural and social barriers" – and, along with Bob Zoellick, President of the World Bank, I was one of the very few male invitees or panellists.

Women’s Progress is Human Progress and Human Progress is Women’s Progress
When women are free to vote and run for public office, governments are more effective and responsive to their people. When women are free to earn a living and start small businesses, they become drivers of economic growth. When women are afforded the opportunity of education and access to health care, their families and communities prosper. When women have equal rights, nations are more stable, peaceful, and secure.

Sierra Leone Citizens say: ‘UN, DfID, US Embassy & Tony Blair will Vote for Ernest Koroma in 2012’
In the South-East, the Agenda for Change is yet to arrive let alone be felt in effect. The much-touted Kenema-Kailahun Road Project was kickstarted after an inexplicable delay of two years but only for a few hours and then all the machines left back for Freetown leaving the road abandoned to its own devices worse than it was when the project was supposedly commissioned. Not just in the Southeast, but there is disenchantment all over the land as was evident during the President’s recent visit to Koinadugu’s Agricultural Show where he was ‘warmly’ greeted by a Kabala field devoid of significant human presence. In the President’s own backyard Bombali this month’s Bye-Elections saw widespread allegations of vote-rigging being made by even the President’s strong political ally, Mohamed Bangura, Chairman of the allied PMDC party... LETTER TO THE EDITOR
Dear Editor, thanks for exposing Lilian Lisk as the heartless woman she is. However, please be corrected that her father, my uncle, was a Sierra Leonean named Mr. Williams with house along Circular Road in Freetown. She was indeed born of a Ghanaian woman named Adjoa Kumasi and all her mother’s other children like Akwesi are Ghanaians. Lilian’s mother is a Ghanaian but her late father was a Sierra Leonean. Once again, thanks for exposing this greedy woman.

Paul Kamara vs. Lilian Lisk
"The present Mines Minister Alpha Kanu could testify the pleadings by Lilian Lisk through him to For Di People to relent when she was seriously cornered and was to go to jail because of the tons of exposures she never dreamt were known. Did Lilian not bribe Le5m to Obed Rowe and Desmond Conteh just to win over FDP editor? And was she not ready to give FDP more than that of which Frank Kposowa now an SLPP parliamentarian then SLAJ president, can attest to when she wanted a parley with FDP and the editor refused? Normally, some journalists don’t say these things but it has reached a point, where names should be mentioned so that the individuals are at liberty to deny or not".

Talking about Income Electrix
This writer has too much self-respect and integrity to make a pretense of being objective in the ongoing saga of Haja Afsatu Kabba, a woman with human frailties [like all of us] but with an amazing energetic drive to succeed that can only inspire younger generations of women. Also, I have evidential reasons to believe in her innocence so I can not pretend to be objective.

Today is March 23rd: A Call to Youths!
On March 23rd 1967, a pivotal event occurred in Sierra Leone when newly elected Prime Minister, APC Leader Siaka Stevens was transferred from State House to Pademba Road prison after him and some of his able aides like Ibrahim Taqi had been put under gunpoint two days earlier by late Chief Hinga Norman, the then ADC to the British Governor General. After a series of military adventures, one Brigadier John Bangura was to reach the helm of power and later hand over power back to Siaka Stevens in April 1968.

Who Is Lilian Lisk? - A Rejoinder
This piece is a direct rejoinder to a certain article planted in scores of local tabloids on the 22nd March 2010, with the banner headline: “Who is Lilian Lisk”, authored by a smokescreen coward of a writer. The said article is the latest attempt by the handlers of the Public Relations of Lilian Lisk, to fool the latter that her already dented image can be easily restored with articles of that nature. The question which the author(s) failed to ask themselves prior to putting pen to paper was: ‘Can Lilian Lisk fit into the category of “Sierra Leone’s most indigenous entrepreneur”, amid the battery of revelations of her uncountable shady undertakings in conniving with unpatriotic citizens and foreign nationals to suppress Sierra Leone from benefiting from its filthily rich natural resources. This is one of the numerous questions any well meaning Sierra Leonean will ask himself and answer before thinking of praise singing an individual called Lilian Lisk.

How Not to Help Abdul Tejan-Cole
Abdul Tejan-Cole, Commissioner of the Anti Corruption Commission of Sierra Leone has admirers in the media; many of whom have acted as ventriloquist’s puppets for him. However, whilst some are still blinded to Tejan-Cole’s arrogant and conceited manner of carrying out his functions, others are now pausing and asking questions about his suitability to wield the tremendous powers conferred upon him. Not just his erstwhile media admirers but all around the country, amongst ordinary citizens, the reaction has been one of abhorrence for unscrupulous tactics like the early morning raid by armed policemen on the residence of Haja Afsatu Kabba to pick up her husband and sons and the arrant refusal to correct from Day 1, the erroneous BBC broadcast concerning the embattled woman. We all know who started the Bullying via Press in this matter and it was not Haja Afsatu Kabba. We all know who started to use the media to demonise another person and it was not Haja Afsatu Kabba.

Helping Lilian Lisk to Lie
After the realization hit TiffyTiffy Okeky’s Lilian Lisk that the cash upon cash she has spent on “Public Relations” have all gone down the drain and she is now one of the most hated figures, if not the most hated, in Sierra Leone, the notorious Lisk now has writers who misinform for her.
