2 year old Awareness Times is now the highest selling newspaper in Sierra Leone
The Sierra Leone Newspaper Vendors Association has officially stated that the Awareness Times Newspaper is second only to the Exclusive Sports Newspaper in the number of daily sales for the capital city of Freetown. However, as far as nation-wide statistics go, the Awareness Times newspaper is now the HIGHEST SELLING NEWSPAPER in Sierra Leone. The announcement comes in at a time which co-incides with the paper's 2nd Anniversary celebrations on July 12th 2007. Awareness Times is currently the only newspaper that clocks daily readership all over Sierra Leone from as far up as Kabala and as far down as Kailahun and Pujehun.

Supporters of Solomon Berewa and the SLPP hold unprecedented Rally in Freetown
It has been dubbed the Solo-D-Bomba Rally and it had 500 Motorbikes and over 3,000 Vehicles plus hundreds of thousands of green clad supporters. Helicopter Crashes in Sierra Leone killing 24 Togolese
A Paramount Airlines helicopter has crashed at Sierra Leone's Lungi International Airport reportedly killing all 24 passengers who were all Togolese nationals returning back home to Togo after beating Leone Stars 1 - 0  this afternoon at the National Stadium in Freetown. Unconfirmed reports from Lungi are that the dead includes the Togolese National Football Coach and some of Togo's star footballers. However, other reports are that the footballers were not on that helicopter but only their supporters who flew with them to Sierra Leone, were on board. Full details of this monumental tragedy will be transmitted out later. May the souls of the dead rest in perfect peace.

Liberia's No-Nonsense Iron Lady accepts resignation of her abled lieutenant Willis Knuckles
President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has returned back to Liberia from a working visit to Rwanda. Upon her return, she has this evening accepted the resignation of her Chief of Staff, Minister of Presidential Affairs, Willis D. Knuckles who has been embroiled in a recent sex-photo scandal. Knuckles was her closest lieutenant.

M.K. Suma passes away in his home in Kambia District, Sierra Leone
Musa Khalil Suma, former Managing Director of the now defunct Sierra Leone Produce Marketing Board (SLPMB) and Chairman of the Kambia District branch of the ruling Sierra Leone People's Party (SLPP) has reportedly passed away in Kitchom, Kambia after suffering two heart attacks in as many days. All the websites with the .sl extension in Sierra Leone, West Africa have been down now for the last 48 hours following some internal problems at Afcom(SL) Ltd., the company managing the DNS and domain names for the country's .sl extension. The website of the Office of the President at www.statehouse.sl is down as are many others including the one for the Ministry of Health (www.health.sl), the World Bank's IRCBP Project (www.ircbp.sl) and this newspaper (awarenesstimes.com).  This newspaper's website can be accessed by our alternate address of www.awarenesstimes.com

Sierra Leone's Hingha Norman "bled to death"
Jawara Lansana, the adopted son of the late Chief Sam Hingha Norman has in an emotional telephone interview with this newspaper from Dakar, Senegal revealed that his late father died from excessive bleeding at his operation site over the last three days. "My father bled to death. Chief Hingha Norman bled to death." Jawara wept over the telephone line to Awareness Times. Jawara was the only family member at the late man's side when he died this morning. BIG SHOCK! TERRIBLE NEWS: Chief Norman passes away in Senegal
A terrible news of MONUMENTAL proportions is reaching this newspaper that Chief Hingha Norman passed away today in Dakar, Senegal. The Special Court has called up a Press Conference which is ongoing right now at the Sierra Leone News Agency. "At about 10:55 (GMT) Mr. Norman collapsed and, despite attempts to revive him, was pronounced dead at about 11:15," the U.N.-backed Special Court for Sierra Leone said in a statement. "Initial indications are that Mr. Norman suffered heart failure during post-operative care," it said. Philip Neville arrested along the streets of Freetown, Sierra Leone
Philip Neville, the shameless Vice President of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) has been finally apprehended this afternoon along the streets of Freetown in front of a huge crowd of citizens who all cheered loudly as he was dragged away. "I hope they lock up that vermin for a very long time to come" and "Lock him up and throw the keys away" were a few of the comments made as he was led away to the Law Courts where he faces an eight count indictment for criminal defamatory libel.
