Umu Hawa Tejan Jalloh is the new Chief Justice of Sierra Leone
Supreme Court Judge Hon. Justice Umu Hawa Tejan Jalloh who until this her latest appointment was the Number 2 in the Judicial hierarchy, has yesterday Friday January 25 2008, been sworn in by President Ernest Koroma at State House to act as Chief Justice of the Republic of Sierra Leone. This move follows the substantive Chief Justice, Dr. Ade Renner Thomas being sent on leave. It is believed that Dr. Renner Thomas will not be coming back to that office.

Sierra Leone's Parliamentary Opposition Leader to accompany President to London
President Ernest Bai Koroma will today Saturday January 26th 2008, travel out of Sierra Leone to visit with the British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and the heir to the British Throne, H.R.H. Prince Charles. Also travelling with the President will be the Parliamentary Minority Leader of the Opposition Sierra Leone People's Party, Hon. Momoh Pujeh and the Editor of For-Di-People, Paul Kamara. First Lady Sia Koroma will also accompany the President to meet the British Royalty. The local New Vision newspaper reported in its yesterday edition that the Minister of Finance David Carew, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Zainab Bangura, Minister of Trade Alimamy Koroma and Minister of Defence, Palor Conteh will all be in the Presidential delegation. Meanwhile, Minister of Information & Communication Alhaji I.B. Kargbo, has also confirmed this afternoon that he would be part of the delegation as well.

Herbert George-Williams is the new Mayor of Freetown in Sierra Leone
It will be recalled that Bankole Johnston was amongst those who recklessly exposed the minority Creoles to danger by spreading dangerous misinformation through Standard Times Newspaper that the Creoles had ganged up to "kick out" the then ruling Sierra Leone People's Party and replace it with the APC. Today, his APC Councillors have ensured he is kicked out of office and despite him planting desperate stories in the media in which he claimed he was being hounded out of office by APC Councillors because he was, in his own explanation to the local Premier News Newspaper, a "f*king Creole boy".

Sierra Leone President takes Opposition Members to ECOWAS Meeting
President Ernest Bai Koroma of Sierra Leone has today January 17th 2008, flown out of the country with two leading members of the Opposition, retired Brigadier Julius Maada Bio and Dr. Prince Alex Harding. They will all be attending the upcoming ECOWAS Meeting slated to be held in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. Koroma had come under serious criticisms for not making genuine overtures towards the regions of Sierra Leone that rejected his candidacy for the Presidency. Bio, a former Presidential aspirant under the erstwhile ruling SLPP Party and Harding, a former Secretary General of the SLPP command support in the regions which rejected Koroma.

Sanpha Koroma is new Secretary to President Koroma in Sierra Leone
Former Governor of the Bank of Sierra Leone, James Sanpha Koroma has this evening been named as the new Secretary to the President of Sierra Leone. The announcement ends weeks of speculations as to who will succeed Sheka Mansaray in that position. Mansaray, the former Secretary to ex President Kabbah, had requested to be allowed to leave following the transition.

Charles Margai & Associates do not want an Inquest for Alima in Sierra Leone
An emergency general meeting of the Sierra Leone Bar Association slated for last Friday November 9th 2007 could not hold with lawyers leaving in chaos. The problem resulted from an item on the agenda which was vehemently kicked against by Lawyer Charles Francis Margai. Late F.M. Minah's Son is new Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in Sierra Leone
Lawyer Vandi C. Minah Esq., the forty year old son of the late former Vice President of Sierra Leone, Francis Mishek Minah, is the newly nominated Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in Sierra Leone. Until his nomination this evening, Minah, a soft-spoken, well bred gentleman was the Chief Legal Adviser to the United Nations Mission in Sierra Leone (UNIOSIL). Lawyer Vandi Minah is amongst over twenty new Deputy Ministers and Ministers of State announced this evening including veteran Leonenetter, Dr. Richard Konteh who is the new Deputy Minister of Finance & Development. Stay tuned for the full list of names which also includes several Diaspora based APC supporters and sympathisers such as Logus Koroma, Martin Bash-Kamara, Mabinty Daramy and Dr. Lansana Nyallay of Tegloma(who interestingly contested against Berewa for SLPP Leadership and got 1 vote). John Karimu, Kanja Sesay, Joko-Smart, Justin Bangura all lose their jobs in Sierra Leone
Awareness Times can authoritatively inform that as of this night, the newly nominated Commissioner for the Anti Corruption Commission is Lawyer Abdul Tejan Cole Esq. who will replace Justice Henry Joko Smart. Kanja Sesay has been replaced as Commissioner for the National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA) by Saidu Conton Sesay with the new NaCSA Deputy to be Charles Rogers who will replace Justin Bangura. Also, the Commissioner for the National Revenue Authority (NRA) Dr. John Karimu has been sacked with immediate effect and his Deputy Ousman Barrie will act in his position until further notice. These latest removals follow the termination of erstwhile Bank Governor J.D. Rogers last week.

Sierra Leone's Bank Governor to be sacked by new President
Governor of the Central Bank of Sierra Leone, Dr. James D. Rogers and his deputy, Alhaji Mohamed Fofana may soon be thrown out of their offices by the new All Peoples Congress (APC) Government, bank sources disclosed this evening. Our sources say that President Ernest Bai Koroma was recently said to have held meetings with the duo asking them to prepare for their exit.

President Ernest Koroma of Sierra Leone has this evening announced the names of ten Sierra Leoneans who are going to be members of his Ministerial Cabinet if Parliament approves them. They are: Mr. David Omashola CAREW to be MINISTER OF FINANCE AND DEVELOPMENT, Mrs. Zainab Hawa Bangura to be MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS, Lawyer Abdul Serry-Kamal to be MINISTER OF JUSTICE AND ATTORNEY GENERAL, Alhaji Ibrahim Ben Kargbo to be MINISTER OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION, Alhaji Abubakar Jalloh to be MINISTER OF MINERAL RESOURCES, Dr. Soccoh Kabia to be MINISTER OF HEALTH, Dr. Sam Sesay to be MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE AND FOOD SECURITY, Alhaji Alpha Kanu to be MINISTER OF PRESIDENTIAL AND PUBLIC AFFAIRS, Mr. John Saad to be MINISTER OF HOUSING AND INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT and Benjamin O.N. Sierra Leone Presidency strongly denies issuing order for Ministers to seek Police Clearance
Competent sources within State House in Sierra Leone have indicated to Awareness Times Newspaper that the newly elected President is "highly embarassed" by the misinterpretation given to a recent Press Release issued by his Vice President, Samuel Sam-Sumana. Sumana had issued a directive from the Office of the Vice President calling upon all civil servants and employees of Government Parastatals to first seek clearance from the Inspector General of Police before they travelled out of Sierra Leone.
