Update on Corruption Case brought against Sierra Leone's Haja Afsatu Kabba
...a RUSHED INDICTMENT of the erstwhile Fisheries Minister Afsatu Kabba was undertaken with shocking violations of the country's laid down laws being carried out in order to ensure that the Minister was indicted and quickly removed from office on that very Monday following our findings on board the Yan Yu boat the day before. The Minister's Defence Team took one look at the 17 counts indictment, called up a press conference and denounced the indictment as "frivolous".... SPECIAL REPORTS : Afsatu Kabba
Afsatu Kabba Did A Lot of Anti Corruption’s Work
Diligent research by this writer over the last one month has uncovered quite a significant amount of documents concerning the country’s Fishing sector. These documents reveal that prior to the appointment of Haja Afsatu Kabba as Minister of Fisheries & Marine Resources, officials of the Anti Corruption Commission had spent some two years attached to the Ministry studying the processes and procedures in a bid to uncover and stem any possible corrupt practices but however confessing that they failed to unearth any corruption. It was only with the advent of the Fisheries Minister and her institution of a Special Intelligence Gathering Team that the massive corruption plaguing the sector was uncovered resulting in an unprecedented exponential rise in revenue generation from the sector.

SPECIAL REPORTS : Afsatu Kabba
Haja Afsatu Kabba: A Sierra Leone Muslim Woman of Excellence!
Haja Afsatu O. E. Kabba
Haja Afsatu Kabba lost her mother when she was at the tender age of 2 years during the birth of her younger brother. Today, the fight against the alarming rate of Maternal Mortality in Sierra Leone is always at the fore of her attention hence it is not surprising that she is the only Sierra Leonean Woman to have been appointed as Goodwill Ambassador for United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Sierra Leone which is leading the way in the fight against Maternal Mortality... Hon. Haja Afsatu Kabba is a remarkable Sierra Leonean Muslim Woman with a number of firsts to her credit... full of energy, highly motivated and a strong advocate for the rights of women, gender equity and development. At age 57 years, she is not only stunningly beautiful with a commanding presence and a distinguished height but she is an inspirational and motivational speaker! It is no wonder that she is always being called upon to serve as Keynote Guest Speaker and/or Chairman on various occasions. Hon Afsatu Kabba is indeed a woman of substance, a citizen of great stature, a positive Role Model in a society sorely lacking of Role Models. CLICK ABOVE LINK TO READ MORE!

SPECIAL REPORTS : Afsatu Kabba
Sylvia Blyden Writes to Sorie Fofana on Lilian Lisk & Haja Afsatu Kabba
I read the article by my dear Brother Sorie Fofana in Global Times of yesterday Thursday March 25th 2010 and I felt nothing but pity for him. This is not really a rejoinder but a piece to help Sorie Fofana understand what he has waded into as he works to earn my dear Aunty Lilian Lisk’s trust in him as a Public Relations handler. Sorie, if my dear Aunty, Mrs. Lilian Ada Lisk tells you that she has never met the President’s mother, Mrs. Alice Rosalyn Koroma, then she is being very economical with the truth. If she tells you that she has never helped the President’s mother with resolving generator problems, then she is being extremely economical with the truth.

SPECIAL REPORTS : Afsatu Kabba
Afsatu Saga Grows Wings!
The Afsatu Kabba saga is growing wings and flying higher every day. What started with disenchantment over the manner in which her husband and children were treated by the Anti Corruption Commission has now progressed to a situation where, for the very first time in the History of this country, a person indicted for supposed acts of corruption, is enjoying a skyrocketing popular support that spans gender, all ages, socio-economic & political classes. This was exemplified by a high number of supportive callers to the country’s most popular U.N. Radio Nightline with DJ Base programme as well as by last Saturday’s spontaneous show of support for Haja Afsatu Kabba by women from all works of life who attended the Maternal Mortality event at Cottage Hospital where Afsatu Kabba put in an unexpected appearance. Interestingly, few days after she was dumped by Ernest Koroma from Cabinet, fish has gone scarce as the Fish Mafia is now uncontrolled

SPECIAL REPORTS : Afsatu Kabba
In Sierra Leone, “Afsatu Kabba Did Not Sign for Any Money”Says ACC Sources
Sources within the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC), who pleaded for anonymity, have told the Awareness Times that the ACC is embarrassed over the continuous misinterpretation of simple and plain grammar contained in the Summary of Evidence of the matter between the State and Haja Afsatu Kabba. The sources insisted that the former Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources, Afsatu Kabba, never signed for any money from the Chinese, as have been irrationally trumpeted by a section of the citizenry.

SPECIAL REPORTS : Afsatu Kabba
SLPP Will Not Be Used By APC to Smear Afsatu
Senior Executive members of the country’s main opposition SLPP party have alleged to this press that attempts were made by senior persons within the ruling All People’s Congress (APC) to use the SLPP’s Unity Newspaper as a tool to destroy image of the indicted erstwhile Fisheries & Marine Resources Minister, Haja Afsatu Kabba. However, APC Government Spokesman I.B. Kargbo has refused to deny or confirm the serious allegations. According to SLPP hierarchy, persons from right within the APC’s corridors of power went through certain staff of Unity newspaper to plant the ACC’s 2008 Report on Income Electrix in the newspaper.

SPECIAL REPORTS : Afsatu Kabba
Judiciary apologises to Afsatu Kabba
Information reaching this press yesterday Thursday March 18th 2010 is that the Judiciary has offered an apology to the erstwhile Minister of Fisheries Haja Afsatu Kabba for mistakenly citing her for failing to appear in Court on Wednesday March 17th 2010. It will be recalled that Master’s Office had asked lawyers for Haja Afsatu Kabba to bring her to court Wednesday to report when no such order existed. Justice Browne Marke had actually instructed that Haja Kabba should report to the Court every Monday even though her passport had been seized and she had a house-owner surety. However, for some strange reason yet to be fathomed, the Judiciary had further misinformed itself that the embattled female politician was to report three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and had proceeded to make moves past Wednesday that resulted in an unfortunate intimidation of the popular politician.

SPECIAL REPORTS : Afsatu Kabba
Should Afsatu Kabba Be in Fear of Judiciary? : Did Justice Browne-Marke really say 3 times weekly?
This newspaper exposed questionable antics of Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) in ACC’s investigation of Haja Afsatu Kabba but events of yesterday seem to indicate that strong focus must now be shifted upon the Judiciary. Although Haja Afsatu Kabba has a naive, blind trust in APC Leader, President Ernest Bai Koroma, many observers tell this presshouse that President has sold Afsatu Kabba out and he will not lift a finger to help her even if she is victimised by Judiciary.

SPECIAL REPORTS : Afsatu Kabba
As Afsatu Kabba’s Popularity Soars Daily, APC’s Dilemma Over Tejan Cole!
The ruling APC Party is reported to now be in serious dilemma over ACC’s Tejan-Cole’s indictment of Hon. Haja Afsatu Kabba with one faction condemning President for refusing to step in and save Kabba from what is now widely seen as a vicious witch-hunt to humiliate her. The other group wants understanding from Haja Afsatu Kabba’s huge groundswell of grassroot support. The duplicated counts by Abdul Tejan Cole as revealed by this newspaper yesterday, to the astonishment of the legal realm in the country, has just added to burning resentment in the country over the indictment of Kabba with the latter’s popularity soaring as everyday goes by and the ACC Boss’ credentials facing some serious need for rehabilitation.

Anti Corruption Commission has yesterday March 15th 2010 filed seventeen counts against Hon. Afsatu Kabba but insist they were not ready to proceed & needed 8 weeks adjournment. ACC’s allegations in which Counts 1 & 2 are identical in nature to Counts 9 and 10 does NOT involve corruption of Government money. What Afsatu Kabba has been charged with involves allegedly using her office to give a messenger job to a poor APC supporter.

SPECIAL REPORTS : Afsatu Kabba
“Charges Against Afsatu Kabba are Frivolous” - Says Lawyer Foday Dabo
The prosecution, according to him, was not yet ready to proceed with such a matter "as evident in its call for an eight weeks adjournment". "In my eight years experience as a prosecutor in the Law Officers Department, a case can only be charged to court after the prosecution would have gathered enough evidences" he said. Lawyer Dabor furthered that it was also strange for the Anti Corruption Commission to serve the Minister the indictments when the Minister was still being interviewed by the same ACC. He questioned why the rush to bring the matter to Court when the interviewing was still ongoing.

SPECIAL REPORTS : Afsatu Kabba
Sylvia Blyden to be a Defence Witness for Afsatu Kabba in Sierra Leone
She revealed that whilst she was growing up at Juba, Lilian Lisk was one of her neighbours and so their relationship spanned "many, many, many years" which long-term relationship caused Lisk to say the things she told Blyden. Dr. Sylvia Blyden insisted that what Lilian Lisk told her was not only spoken to her as a journalist but as someone whom Lisk believed shared friendship with Afsatu Kabba. "When the case starts and I start to speak about what transpired between me and Lilian Lisk inside her house at 4 Damba Road, Murray Town then the world will know between Lilian Lisk and Afsatu Kabba who is the villain," Blyden assured.
