It’s my final day and will be moving to the Summer Summer City of Durban (derived from the wonderful weather they have through the year…summer always. Since the woeful and embarrassing performance of some teams in the World Cup, notably France and Nigeria, their Government have been quick to order an investigation into the causes and in the case of Nigeria, the team has been suspended for two years from International Competition which implies out of the 2012 and 2013 African Nations Cup. As a Football Administrator since 1986 in Sierra Leone, and a contender for the next FA Presidency in 2012, I must categorically state that I am opposed to Government’s interference in most cases but unlike FIFA, I do not believe Zero Tolerance is practicable, and support Government’s involvement, not necessarily interference in certain scenarios.

Reflecting On South Africa 2010 World Cup
It is by now public knowledge that South Africa 2010 is the first time Sierra Leone has been officially represented by Sports Writers. It is also a truism that it is the first time we have been allocated World Cup tickets officially that has been available for Sierra Leoneans to witness the World Cup. Regrettably, many of our brothers intending to travel to the Competition struggled with either Visa or flight/accommodation difficulties from home to The Rainbow Nation. It has not been all doom and gloom because at least three sports journalists have had the opportunities to watch the best footballers in the world, observe how press conferences are held and learn from others from a more advance world how efficient and professional Sports Writers and Photographers can be.
