Former Majority Leader in the Sierra Leone Parliament, Hon. Eddie Turay, has been approved by the House of Parliament to become Sierra Leone’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Hon. Eddie Turay was approved on Thursday 17th December 2009, alongside three other presidential nominees, to serve in various state functions.
Mrs. Justice Adelizer Sawyer was approved by parliamentarians to serve as Appeals Court Judge, Ms. Marjorie I. Hedd as Board Member Audit Service Board, and Mr. Davidson Kuyateh as Board Member Anti Corruption Commission (ACC).
The Parliamentary Committee of Appointment and Public Service recently interviewed the four presidential nominees under set criteria ranging from education background, past records, tax obligation to asset declaration.
As was expected, the parliamentarians, from all angles of the House, showered praises on the newly approved Sierra Leone High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ireland, Hon. Eddie Turay.
Making his contribution, Member of Parliament representing the main opposition Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Hon. Komba Kondeyeima, described the appointment of Hon. Eddie Turay as a step in the right direction, whilst pointing out that his appointment was in the interest of the country and not for political gains.
He said Hon. Turay has always proved to be dedicated and dutiful in strides aimed at moving the country forward.
For him, Sierra Leone’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ireland, Hon. Eddie Turay, thanked His Excellency the President, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, for appointing him to the enviable position, whilst assuring that he will continue to promote the image of Sierra Leone in the Diaspora.
Acting Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Chukuma Johnson congratulated the approved nominees and wished them well in their new jobs.
