It is with excitement that we announce that in addition to our unprecedented success on the ground here in Freetown, and the numerous emails of support and appreciation that we have been getting from readers in the Diaspora, that we have just received an email directly from the Google News Service at www.google.com which states that the Awareness Times Newspaper is now a preferred and premier source of news on Google and all Google's affiliate news agencys such as www.sierraleonenews.net
According to the email, Google News has done a complete review of the Awareness Times newspaper and after reviewing the quality of journalism in the paper, has decided to list the paper down as a source of credible news reports standing right next to the Washington Post, the New York Times, the Times of London and other internationally acclaimed news outlets.
Not only is Google going to use our news reports, but they have also promised to use our pictures. For example, the picture of the Inspector General of Police which belongs to Awareness Times and which we published today alongside the black-out story has been the one used by Google News today whilst running the different stories on the Harry Yansaneh issue.
Awareness Times thanks all our readers whose encouragement and support have taken us from a twice weekly newspaper to a daily newspaper. We will continue to give you clear and unambiguous news reports as and when we get them.
We also promise to correct any ill informed and editorialised report placed online as credible news reports. We are here to keep you informed. Correctly informed.
Meanwhile, you can visit the Google News site and watch as your favourite newspaper reports get read by hundreds of thousands of readers using the Google News Source at http://news.google.com
