The Miss Western Area Beauty pageant show which was organized by the Promoters Club in collaboration with the Preachers Theatre and Pal’s Production at the National Stadium main Bowl on ‘Dunkay Sally’ Pray Day, 10th January 2006 ended in disarray in which the popular contestant among the five contestants deemed to win the contest was not pronounced, a decision considered by the organizers as unfair.

The contest which saw contestants from, Kingtom, Brookfields and Sorie Town started in a peaceful note, with the audience thinking that it will end as it has started.

The five contestants were, Miss Mariama Webby, Haja Ramata Bah, both from Kingtom, Christiana Williams from Sorie Town, and Miss Fatmata D. Turay and Princess Cole both from Brookfields. They appeared in five different attires, casual, beach, office, Africana and party attires in which all of the contestants displayed professionalism and techniques in their cat-walks, facial expressions among many other qualities looked for by the judges as well as their answers to questions.

The most unfortunate part of the contest was when after the question and answer session when the judges were compiling the results the stadium lights went off leaving the main bowl awfully dark. An argument ensued among the judges in which the Chief Judge, Emmanuel Cole was heard blaming one of the other judges, Christian Coker that he wants to cheat in favour of one of the contestants, Princess Cole.

Christian Coker on his part charged that Emmanuel Cole had pleaded with him after every round of appearance of the contestants to add extra marks in favour of his chosen contestant Fatmata D Turay.

It was this argument that took the better part of the night with the two judges in deep disagreement on till 7:00am, following which the organizers called the contestants to a separate room and pleaded with them to show understanding. They were each given Le 50,000 as transport fare on the promise that they will be called upon later for the final presentation.
