No official reason has been forwarded to ascertain the cause of the accident, but eye witness accounts have so far attributed it to over speeding. According to reports, the victims, believed to be associated with the Milton Margai College of Education and Technology, Congo Cross Campus, were returning home onboard a 4 runner Jeep with registration No. ABY 365.

The vehicle apparently missed its way and somersaulted into the bridge, thus resulting in the death of all the passengers, except the driver who up to press time was in a critical condition. Among the victims were a Lecturer at the Commercial Department of the college, Mr. Kontey Conteh, and Samuel Sesay, an Engineering student at the same college. The matter is still being investigated.
