A new water company has made a successful entrance into Sierra Leone. The company which goes by the name of Foramat SL Ltd specializes in borehole drilling, dam water encampment, urban and rural water supply, geophysical/hydrogeological investigation among others has commenced operations in the country. The company marked its presence in the country with a demonstration drilling of a bore hole at Old Taylor Woodrow compound in Grafton.

FORAMAT in a drilling exercise

Introducing the company, Mr. Cyril Greenwood, a Sierra Leonean Industrialist of international repute and also a shareholding partner and board member of the company, noted, "Foramat has well over 10 years of water supply and borehole drilling experience and is well known in countries like Benin Republic, Togo, Ghana, Burkina Faso and Cote d’Ivoire as a forerunner in the alleviation of water supply problems".

The company which knowledge and practical experience led to the development of a master plan that helped to eradicate water supply shortages in Togo, Benin, Burkina Faso, Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire is here to replay what made it a common name in these countries.

The demonstration drill which took about two hours to hit water drew cheers and applause from the large crowd which came out to watch the event.

The water borehole, seen as the symbolic first borehole in Sierra Leone was said to have a capacity of one hundred gallon per minute.

Among dignitaries present at the demonstration were Mr. Benji Blake, a senior citizen of Sierra Leone and Mr. Samuel Kofi Fagnon, Group Chairman of Foramat International. The event was also witnessed by residents of Grafton and its neighbourhoods.

At the demonstration site, Mr. Samuel Kofi Fagnon, Group Chairman of Foramat Ltd happily said, "Water supply shortage will soon be a thing of the past in Sierra Leone". According to Mr. Fagnon, "Foramat if given the chance can handle the Freetown water supply needs and ensure effective and continuous water supply to the people".

The demonstration ceremony created an impression that the coming of Foramat in Sierra Leone would place the country in a more advantageous position to provide uninterrupted water supply through the provision of bore holes at every nook and cranny of the country.
