Ernest Koroma states APC’s position, blasts Kabbah Government
"Sierra Leone is at critical stage in its political history," the leader of the All People’s Congress (APC) party, Ernest Bai Koroma is reported as stating recently. The APC as an opposition Party, he said, has the obligation to change the political agony meted on the people of this country by the SLPP. Under the SLPP government he said, Sierra Leoneans continues to suffer on daily baris.
Fire consumes World Vision office in Kono
The World Vision office in Ngadorhun Town in the Kono District, Eastern Province is reported to have been burnt down and prosperities worth millions of Leones destroyed. The accident according to report, was caused by a security officer attached to the organization, Sahr Amara who reports say had a lighted candle with him while refueling the generator in an enclosed room. According to report, Sahr Amara is currently in police custody as investigations continue.
2 Journalists for Congo
Amadu Daramy of the New Citizen newspaper and Hawa G. Tucker of the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Service are reported to have over the weekend, left for Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo to participate in a five-day conference on African Regional Media Network. The two would have to join some 88 participants from other African countries to participate in a conference organised by UNFPA.
Cholera hits the Freetown-East
Three persons in the Kissy community in the East of Freetown are reported to have died of cholera attacks last Thursday. Other residents who were reported to have contracted this contagions disease were rushed to the nearby clinics. Also in the Grafton community in the Eastern outskirt of the city, reports have it that this killer disease claimed the lives of some twelve persons in just three days. The outbreak, according to residents of these communities is attributed to the lack of pure drinking water. However, neither the Ministry of Health and Sanitation nor medical practitioners have confirmed the epidemic.
Daddy Saj to launch election album
One of Sierra Leone’s musical icons, Joseph Cole, aka Daddy Saj of the anti-corruption fame is reported to be busy putting bits and pieces together for the launching of the violence-free election album. The title of Saj’s Album according to report is Democratic Solution for All Jambo (DSAJ) According to Saj, the proposed album is his own little contribution towards the country’s elections process.
Teacher’s rapes school girl 13
A school Teacher, Sheka J. Fadika, of the Sierra Leone Muslim Brotherhood (SLMB) Primary School at Gbanti Wala in the Lokomasama Chiefdom, Port Loko District is reported to have allegedly raped a 13 year old school girl. The victim according to report had told the court that the suspect was his school teacher. She also revealed to the court that the teacher had asked her to follow him to the bush were she was forcefully raped by the teacher. Mr. Fadika who is currently standing trials at the Port Loko Magistrate court has been remanded in the Port Loko prisons.
