After series of concerns raised by consumers in both Bo and Kenema districts on the poor supply of electricity to their communities, especially during the rainy season, the Bo Kenema Power Services (BKPS) has assured the two districts of working towards ensuring that they start enjoying undisturbed electricity supply this year.

Speaking to this press over the weekend, the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Bo Kenema Power Service, James Rogers said that the Service needs the continued support and collaboration of its consumers in order to it operate perfectly. He assured that they are working towards providing their consumers with the sufficient and undisturbed electricity supply needed.

Mr. Rogers stressed that they can't achieve their goals if consumers do not go through the office and therefore advised consumers to follow the pre-paid meters rules and regulations and to avoid fake electrician installations in order to avoid wrong connections that can end up resulting to damage.

James Rogers further said that for the past few months they have embarked on massive installation of prepaid meters whereas over seven thousand consumers in both Bo and Kenema Districts have benefited from the services and to avoid the in flock of customers to pay the bills they have been able to put up a giant prepaid meters' venting station that can house hundreds of people.
The Ag.CEO furthered that due to the concerns of people in both cities they have erected transformers and new electric poles in some demanding areas within the two cities and therefore appealed to government to continue helping them in the area of logistic support in order to salvage the situation as, according to him, there are high demands from the consumers. He further disclosed that over thirty percent of their cables have been carted away by thieves and as a result, some areas in the two cities have gone without electricity supply for a long period.

He however stated that with the cooperation of the community people and the law enforcement agencies they have been able to salvage the situation in order to sustain the organization by sending defaulters to the court of law.
Specking to one of the consumers in Bo, Bashiru Koroma, he said it is now that BKPS transformation is gradually becoming a reality in both cities but that consumers are this time round worried to know their faith in the hands of BKPS for electricity supply, because, according to him, they hardly enjoy electricity Supply even though they pay the bills. He however lavished praises on the Acting CEO of BKPS while expressing hope that he will continue the good work. Mr. Koroma further assured the management of BKPS that their eyes are always opened wide to catch miscreants in the habit of stealing BKPS cables and other materials, adding that they are always ready to bring defaulters to book when caught. Mr. Koroma however appealed to consumers to desist from hiring electricians to wire their houses and ensure that they always have BKPS workers who are qualified to do such work. He also advised the public to deviate from tampering with the prepaid meters that have been installed by the BKPS Management. When caught, he said, they will face the full penalty of the law. He concluded by appealing to the central government through BKPS for more support.
