Miss Martha Sesay - Aviation Student
July 12th 2005: There is an old adage that God has rare days on which he creates a woman who has the dual qualities of being beautiful and brainy. Today’s Awareness Lady, Martha Sesay was made on just such a day.
|Miss Martha Sesay: Bright & Beautiful
Martha, is a 19 years old Aviation student at the College of Transport and Tourism Studies in Freetown, Sierra Leone. Not only is she an outstanding student, she is also extremely intelligent, charming and full of humour.
She comes from a family of five of which she is the youngest. Born on 6th June 1986, she attended the St Joseph’s Secondary School. She finds her course to be very interesting and she is grateful to her lecturers whom she says are imparting to her knowledge in Tourism, Travel Law, English, French, Spanish, Physiotherapy, Fares & Ticketing amongst others. For Martha, education to the highest peak is a must. She believes that a woman would compliment her partner better if she is educated and sophisticated.
Martha is an all-rounder with numerous sporting certificates. Her hobbies include playing basketball, throwing javelin, reading novels but most of all, the love of her life is ACTING .Since school days, she always wanted to be an actress. “I just feel like it is natural and I can feel it deep within me. I had this dream since I was a child and finally I got the opportunity of becoming one thanks to Rtd. Major Abu Noah who made my dream come true.” She told Awareness Times.
Martha auditioned in front of Fred Amata, the famed Nigerian Film Director and she landed the enviable role of playing next to Genevieve Nnaji in the film “Bai Bureh goes to war”. She was stunning on screen acting as Genevieve’s best friend (Saffie) in the bondo bush. She is grateful for what she termed the wonderful experience of acting with Nigerian actors and for being given the chance to travel to Nigeria to launch the movie. In Nigeria, she was toasted by Government Ministers, Senators, Chiefs and Business moguls who all attended the film’s launching at the Sheraton Hotel in Abuja.
Martha’s advise for young women is for them to get education at all costs. She loves the quote by Hellen Keller which says “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart.”
Martha advises that “Beauty fades with time but education will never leave you. Strive to learn and put more perseverance on what you feel that you can do to make Sierra Leone a better place for us all and then you will be women of substance tomorrow. Love one another and do not quarrel or have envious minds for one another. As for me, all I can say is that I will always be there for my country and young women out there can count on me whenever they need support. My contact numbers are +232-30-230818 or +232-30-242330.”
