Two more of the suspects charged with aiding and abetting a fugitive wanted by the police to escape in a boat, have late last evening applied for bail to High Court Judge Mary Sey. 15th Accused Alusine Kamara and 18th Accused Obai Kamara are charged alongside 17th Accused Fatmata Bangura and 16th Accused Bankole Kamara Deen with conspiracy to defeat the course of public justice by using a boat to ferry fugitives being investigated by the Sierra Leone Police.

Defending Lawyer, Crispin F. Edwards

Their Lawyer C.F. Edwards is reported to have made a passionate appeal on their behalf. Justice Sey is expected to deliver her ruling this morning. If their application is upheld, the two men would be released from Pademba Road making it a total of four suspects who have now been granted bail. The other two suspects Fatmata Bangura and Bankole Deen Kamara had been granted bail late last week upon an application made to High Court Judge Aiah Konoyeima.

Acting Chief Justice Umu Tejan-Jalloh, Heading an Independent Judiciary

These four accused persons actually have nothing to do with the cocaine trafficking but are widely believed to have been the ones who facilitated the escape of Cocaine Drug Lord Gibrilla Kamara (aka GK) from Sierra Leone.

Meanwhile, it is believed that the State might leapfrog the ongoing matter to the High Court from the Magistrate Court using Sectioon 136.
