SCB Customers Bids Farewell to Eyram Atsu in Sierra Leone

Customers of Standard Chartered Bank Sierra Leone (SCB) on Monday 6th October 2008 bided a fond farewell to the Director of Client Relationships of the Standard Chartered Bank Sierra Leone, Mr. Eyram Atsu at an impressive dinner ceremony held at the Country Lodge, Hill Station in Freetown.

President of the Lebanese Community in Sierra Leone, Mr. Samir Hassanyeh who served as chairman of the occasion described Mr. Atsu as a devoted and dedicated worker who seeks the welfare of the Bank’s customers.

"This achievement of Mr. Atsu inspired the customers to organize such a wonderful farewell dinner in recognition of his outstanding outputs during his tenure in office," Mr. Hassanyeh explained.

He noted further that Mr. Atsu has been very instrumental in the transformation of the cooperate banking system in the Standard Chartered Bank since he came into this country, stating that the Lebanese community do appreciate strides made by him.

"The outgoing Director of Client Relations has brought a lot of facilities to the Bank in relation to excellence and outstanding performance," he noted, adding that Mr. Atsu’s efforts are highly recognized and appreciated by the business community in general.

In his statement, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Standard Chartered Bank, Albert Saltson described Mr. Atsu as a good leader with a dream and vision that has enabled him to lay a very tough foundation for the Bank.

"The kind of love showered on Mr. Atsu by customers demonstrate the kind of person he is," he explained and assured the outgoing director that the Bank will continue to build on the achievements made in building a strong relationship between the customers and the Bank.

Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Alex Kamara expressed sentiments over the honour bestowed on Mr. Atsu by customers.

He says it is his fervent wish that Sierra Leone will have more dedicated, devoted and loyal workers in the likes of the outgoing Director.

Speaking on behalf of the customers, Mr. Wilfred Sam-King of Sam King Services said it was a real privilege for customers of the Bank to have worked closely with a great philanthropist in the person of Mr. Atsu.

"Mr. Atsu is one of the finest professional bankers in modern history that has no boundary or limitation in reaching out customers," he said, adding that Mr. Atsu has very good customer relations.

He said Mr. Atsu had always been at the forefront in search of customers, which he had always done with a sense of professionalism and dedication.

Another customer, Habkishin (Frank) of Balani &Sons said the outgoing director has respect for customers which makes him unique in managing customers’ affairs in a professional standing.

"He has been instrumental in identifying problems and solutions to them," he confirmed.

In a happy mood, the outgoing Director, Mr. Eyram Atsu expressed delight for having worked in Sierra Leone.

He said it was a great exposure for him to have dedicated his service to the Bank during his tenure.

He assured customers that he is leaving them in the hands of a capable and trusted successor, adding who will be heading the wholesale banking which he described as a Herculean task.

Mr. Atsu pointed out that the bank has been in existence for quiet some time now and had always been at the forefront as far as banking is concerned in the country.

"Sierra Leone is one of the richest countries in the world in terms of natural gifts," the outgoing director said, adding that he will always be part of the Sierra Leonean community.

Several tributes were paid to the outgoing director from various customers including, Jihad Swaid of Benco Limited, Nasir Hallowell of CTC and staff of the bank.
