An international non governmental organization, Heifer International Sierra Leone on Tuesday 14 October 2008 commenced a three day stakeholders strategic planning workshop for the next five years.
The workshop is holding at the Hotel Bamoi, Aberdeen in Freetown.Heifer International’s Country Director, Mr. Rashid Sesay says his organization has been working in several African and European Countries, adding that it is a registered international non governmental organization in Sierra Leone that deals with livestock management within the country.
“Upon our arrival in Sierra Leone, Heifer International conducted a country review assessment to identify operational areas in Port Loko and the Western Urban area,” he said, while adding that they will be concentrating on six chiefdoms as a start in the Port Loko District and parts of the Western Area.
Mr. Sesay disclosed that the workshop is aimed at mapping out strategies for the next five years.
He said stakeholders will deliberate and bring out suggestions for the strategy.
“At the end of the three day workshop, the organization will have a comprehensive guide on budget and project implementation,” he explained, while assuring that they will not only engage on livestock management but also on community development programmes within their operational areas.
Heifer International Ghana Representative, Mr. Roland Kanlisi urges farmers and agricultural institutions in the country to ensure that they contribute actively in the setting up of the five year strategic plan and to bring out recommendations that will guide the organization’s work in the country.
