A driver, Victor Karimu who is alleged to have obtained money by false pretenses was on Tuesday 14th October 2008 refused bail in the Magistrate Court No 3 and remanded at the Pademba Road Prisons.
The accused was arraigned before Magistrate Bankole Shyllon on a count charge of obtaining money by false pretense.
The particulars of offence states that the accused person on the 21st January 2007 and 30th December 2007 at the Lumley Police Station obtained money by false pretense from the complainant, Alex Momodu Bangura to the tune of four million, three hundred and fifty thousand leones for the purpose of selling a piece of land knowing the same to be false.
Presiding Magistrate refused the accused bail and adjourned the matter to 24th October 2008.
In another development, one Mariatu Kamara and Nadia Sillah were arraigned on five count charges of defamatory libel, abusive language, public insult and provocation, insulting conduct and trespass against the complainants, Maltida Bangura and Laura Davies.No plea was taken.The accused were granted bail in the sum of two million Leones and the matter adjourned to 24th October 2008.
