World Food Programme (WFP) over the weekend donated office equipments and motor bikes to the Ministries of Agriculture and that of Finance and Economic Development at a ceremony held at the premises of the Youyi Building, Brookfields in Freetown.
WFP Deputy Country Director, Mr. Housainoh Taal says the donation is a respond to an appeal by both ministries for support in order to effectively oversee the monitoring and implementations of WFP assisted programmes in the country.
"It also aimed at complimenting the important roles played by these ministries," he said, while adding that there are numerous pending projects that include assisting the needy and other employment projects in agriculture for youths.
Assistant Development Secretary in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, Mr. John Samilla thanked the WFP management for actualizing the ministries’ request, adding that the items donated would be adequately used for their intended purposes.
"We look forward to more support and partnership between the WFP and the Government of Sierra Leone," he concluded.
Items donated to the Finance and Economic Development Ministry includes two desktop computers and accessories, three HP laser printers, two XL125 motorbikes and a giant photocopiers.
A desktop computer and accessories, a lap top computer, three memory sticks, a refrigerator, photocopier, staple machines, standing fan and other equipments were donated to the Agriculture Ministry.
