The meeting witnessed an impressive attendance of a wide range of SLPP stalwarts and thousands of supporters from all the eleven (11) chiefdoms in the Koinadugu District, including former Members of Parliament, Hon. Alhaji Batoma Sheriff and Hon. M.A Jalloh, who chaired the meeting.
Delivering his keynote address, Hon. M.A Jalloh says the purpose of the meeting is to put modalities in place for the party’s upcoming convention and also for the appointment of committees for the conduct of constituency level elections, chiefdom and district executives.
“In early November this year, the party will conduct district convention to fill the vacant positions of district chairman, women’s leader, secretary general and young generation leader,” he said.
He says the impressive attendance of supporters indicate that the SLPP has bounce back in the Koinadugu District, while alleging that resident have demonstrated complete regret to have voted the ruling All People’s Congress (APC) to the citadel of power.
He alleges that reports monitored by their party executives in all the chiefdoms indicate that the APC regime has immensely contributed to the increased suffering of locals, adding: “the SLPP has regained its past glory as everybody is now demonstrating willingness to vote the SLPP back to power come 2012.”
Acting District Chairman, Mohamed Wusu Kamara aka Mado charged that the SLPP supporters continue to suffer violence, harassment and intimidation as the party’s support continues to spread over the district.
