Much has been opined on the assets and liabilities of President Ernest Koroma but the reality is that probably the biggest liabilities that Ernest Koroma has, is the public comportment of a few of the people he has appointed into positions of trust. The term ‘position of trust’ refers to a position of authority over another person or within a nation. Crimes and vile, antisocial actions committed by a person in a position of trust may be penalized more severely under the law.
Thus, those wishing to occupy positions of trust have to realise they are subject to special restrictions in their comportment. Integrity, Decency and Honesty should be an integral make up of those chosen to be placed into positions of trust. When a man devoid of integrity is placed into a position of trust, it is not to be surprising if he betrays the trust that has been reposed in him and puts to shame his benefactor.
This is why a Leader must be extremely careful and circumspect about the characters of those he places into positions of trust.
If Ernest Koroma was the Chief Executive running a Commercial Enterprise named RITCORP which required a Director of Tourism who would be responsible for marketing and branding the potential of RITCORP, will he have appointed and continued to retain Hindolo Trye in that position in the light of recent repeated mal-developments? If not, why insult our collective expectations by keeping such a liability in a position of trust? Why treat this country with such overt and blatant contempt Mister President?
If Ernest Koroma was appointing a Member of a Board set up to work closely with and advise a Commercial Enterprise like RITCORP, will he have appointed Olu Gordon as such a member with the full knowledge that Gordon had once penned down some of the vilest possible sexually explicit lies against one of the senior women he would have to co-exist and ‘advise’ at RITCORP? If not, why did Ernest Koroma insult our collective expectations by appointing Olu Gordon to the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) after the nasty, nasty vile lies Olu Gordon once wrote against the most senior female at the ACC, Mrs. Neneh Dabo? After the rabid dog attack on Neneh Dabo and other distinguished women in this society, it was a complete slap in the face of women in general and of Mrs. Neneh Dabo in particular for Ernest Koroma to have ever appointed Olu Gordon to "advise" at the ACC. Nonsense move Mister President! Nonsense!
Olu Gordon recently portrayed First Lady Sia Koroma (President Ernest Koroma’s wife) as a liability to the President whom the President could barely stand and wished to be separated from. It was a blatant lie! But the way we see it, the problem lies not with Olu Gordon but with Mister President. In the first place, it was Mr. President who gave undue credibility to Olu Gordon by appointing him into such a sacred position of trust like adviser to the ACC!
President Ernest Koroma must start to understand that even if he does not personally owe himself an association with only people of integrity and high moral standing, he owes this Nation much better as far as his choice of people he catapults into positions of trusts. The sooner Mr. President comes to this realisation, the better for this our land. That is our view!
