The Nigerian Community in Sierra Leone has vehemently condemned the establishment of the Ogboni Society in Sierra Leone to avert any conflict that would affect relations between the two countries.
Secretary General of the Nigerian Nationals Union, Francis Onyekwue says the establishment of the group is threatening the safety of Nigerians and their businesses in the country.
He says they have made a representation to the Nigerian High Commission in Freetown to express their resentment on the issue.
He emphasized the commitment of all Nigerian nationals to ideals for peace and harmony in Sierra Leone.
"We must respect the laws of the land," he said, while stressing that Nigerians are peace loving nationals and would continue to promote harmony in the country.
It could also be recalled that several Nigerian pastors operating in the country have also denounced the group calling it an evil group that should not be permitted in Sierra Leone.
The Union’s Media Coordinator, Adeze Olukwu says they have called on Nigerians to avoid any activity that may destabilize the peaceful relations between Nigerians and Sierra Leoneans.
Meanwhile, Nigerian Ambassador Godson Echegile has commended the Sierra Leone government and authorities for averting the crisis and assured the Nigerians of peace and security in the country.
