Hon. Cecil Osho Williams, an MP from the ruling All People's Congress (APC) representing one of the Freetown Central Constituencies, has passed away in the evening hours of yesterday November 3rd 2008.
Hon. Osho-Williams first entered Parliament alongside Victor Foh in 1996 but following his arrest and trial for Treason in 1998, and his eventual pardon/release, he lost his Parliamentary seat which he was to later regain during the last Parliamentary Elections of 2007.
Tongues had been wagging ever since Osho-Williams, a practising lawyer, joined the prosecution team in the ongoing cocaine plane trial at the Freetown Magistrate Court No 1A presided over by Magistrate Deen Tarawallie. Following the disclosure on 17th October 2008 by prosecuting counsel, Gerald Soyie, quite a few eyebrows had been raised since the APC's Campaign Manager for the Western Area, Mohamed Bahir Sesay was one of the principal suspects currently in detention.
The late Honourable Cecil Osho-Williams, as the lawyer for many of Freetown's notorious thugs and hardened criminals, had worked closely with the detained Mohamed Sesay to finance and co-ordinate the Western Area campaign of the then-opposition APC. This saw the use of thugs as a major part of their operations. Osho-Williams provided the manpower and Mohamed Sesay provided the financing. During the Run-Off Elections, the activities of Lawyer Osho-Williams and Mohamed Sesay in the Lumley area is best left unsaid out of deference to the dead. However, knowing this existence of an Osho-Williams/Sesay relationship was the reason why the unexplained sudden announcement that Cecil Osho-Williams was now a member of the prosecution team against Mohamed Sesay, had raised many eyebrows.
Meanwhile, as at press time, it was reported that the late man died in hospital from a sudden attack that has been attributed to a long term Diabetic condition. May his soul rest in perfect peace.
