The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) on Wednesday 5th November 2008 disclosed plans by certain misguided Sierra Leonean youths to inflict mayhem on Nigerian nationals doing business in this country in revenge for Ogboni cult practices.

This was made public by the head of media and public relations of the SLP, Inspector Ibrahim Samura at his Police Headquarter office in Freetown. He disclosed that they have got wind of an intelligence report that certain criminals residing in the central business district of the city have planned to kidnap young kids in the guise that Nigerian cult affiliates did the act, thereby creating unnecessary panic for mothers particularly. This is a ploy to create tensions, thereby giving them the chance to rebel against Nigerians and break into their business entities," he confided.

He however said that upon this intelligence report, the SLP have automatically become proactive by deploying Special Branch personnel, dressed in civil attire to mingle with youths in these areas and gather all information on such an evil act. "The police will not take it lightly with any one caught in such a diabolic act. I therefore take this opportunity to warn the so called youths to desist from nurturing such an intention as they will have themselves to blame if caught," he concluded.
