One Mohamed Turay on Friday 7th November 2008 pleaded guilty on a count charge of fraudulent conversion brought against him at the Freetown Magistrate Court No. 6 presided over by Magistrate Mohamed M’bawoh.
The particulars of offence state that the accused person on Thursday 11th September 2008, at Hill Station, fraudulently converted to his own use or benefit 140 dozen fence sticks, valued at one million six hundred thousand leones, which was entrusted to him for the purpose of sale.
After pleading guilty as charged, the accused, Mohamed Turay further appealed to the presiding magistrate to allow him time in order for him to pay back the money.
He was granted bail while the matter was adjourned to the 25th November, by which date he is expected to have paid the money.
In another development, Salamatu Turay, Madam Zainab and Fatmata Turay of 43 Black Hall Road were also charged with public insult and provocation, and insulting conduct against the complainant, Abu Bakarr Conteh. The accused persons pleaded not guilty of the charges.
Bail application by the defending counsel was granted in the sum of one million leones each and the matter adjourned to 18th November 2008.
