The Minister of Finance and Economic Development, David O. Carew has told Awareness Times last evening November 24th 2008, that as a mark of the tremendous respect he has for the House of Parliament, he would not be giving the much expected Keynote Address at todays Opening Ceremony of the prestigious Commonwealth Forum on Procurement.

The forum which is an international event that has seen dozens of international procurement actors stream into Sierra Leone, will instead see Carews Deputy Momodu Kargbo give the Address in his stead.

Documents shown to this medium indicates that Parliament summoned David Carew late yesterday to make himself available at 10:00am this morning to discuss two issues: The National Budget for 2009 and the Parliamentary Service Commissions recommendations about the increase in salaries and allowances for sitting MPs.

According to Carew, who spoke in an exclusive snap interview with Awareness Times, he plans to put aside everything else and make himself available to the Parliamentarians very promptly this morning, "as a mark of the tremendous respect I have for the Sierra Leone Parliament and all elected Parliamentarians".
