GKís Wife Speaks from Germany

Mrs. Salima Kamara, the wife of Wanted alleged cocaine fugitive Gibrilla Kamara (aka GK) has yesterday December 3, 2008, granted an exclusive interview to Awareness Times from her residence in Germany. Although the fugitive GK himself was also on the phone line [added in as a three way call from his present location somewhere in Africa], it was mostly Salima who spoke on their family's issue with respect to cocaine plane saga matter.

For the Kamaras, their most important concern right now is for the wife and the children to be able to return home to spend Christmas in their family house along Spur Road which is now allegedly occupied by well armed police officers.

"This is the cry of a woman in pain; justice delayed is justice denied. There is a widespread human right abuse going on in Sierra Leone today which needs to be urgently amended. An arrest warrant has been issued for my husband Gibrill but does this mean that his family members should be punished and locked out of our premises?" Salima questioned.

Salima, who described herself as "APC to the core", pleaded with President Koroma to intervene so she and her kids could have a place to stay when they arrived in the country within next ten days.

The Kamaras are claiming GK only fled because he was a hypertensive patient suffering from diabetes and heart complications and would not have survived jail time.

"GK was at his mother's house in Calabar Town when he was phoned from our residence to say that armed policemen had taken over our house and were looking for him. He did not know if it was a coup plot or unrest and so he fled the country as he is a sick man and would not have survived any stress. He has not returned back because nothing is clear to us about cocaine allegations and he does not wish to get locked up or disgraced as he has lots of enemies who are envious of him," Salima said.

When asked why was it that GK had stayed silent all this while only to contact this press yesterday for an interview, Mrs. Kamara answered thus: "nothing is clear about this cocaine matter and we wanted to understand what was going on. My husband is a humble man who is innocent of what he has been scandalised for but we had lots of associates and family members and even our employees all rounded up in custody and we did not wish to speak out and jeopardise their safety before now as we knew the courts will shed light on whether or not my husband was involved in the cocaine mess but as it stands now, we have realised that we need to speak out as the matter is dragging on in the Courts."
