Two sisters, Rugiatu Jalloh and Haja Jalloh on Wednesday 3rd December 2008 appeared before Magistrate Bankole Shyllon of Court No. 3 in Freetown to answer to a seven-count charges ranging from conspiracy to commit felony, attempted rape, robbery with violence, trespass to insulting conduct.

According to the particulars of offence, the accused persons on Thursday 25th September 2008, at Cape Road, Lighthouse in Aberdeen Village, western judicial district, conspired with other unknown persons to commit the above crimes against the complaint, one Mrs. Majida Baydoun.

After series of adjournments, the complaint on Wednesday testified for the first time in court how the defendants, together with four boys believed to be thugs attacked her at her Cape Lighthouse residence and severely assaulted her. She told the court that while executing their diabolic acts, both of the two defendants bragged of backings from their boyfriends who she claimed to be the current Inspector General of Police, Brima Acha Kamara and Lawyer Sahid Sesay, who also turns out to be on the defence team in the matter.

According to her, they could not stop at merely assaulting her but went ahead to ransack her premises amidst obscenities. Continuing her testimony, she told the court that they entered her bed room at the basement of the building and continued to plunder, while the male assailants allegedly attempted to rape her.

She said the 1st defendant had earlier told her that she had already alerted the police that they were going to murder her, the complainant. In the ensuing attack, she told the court that she lost one of her incisor teeth, with further damage to her left ear. She said the accused openly ordered the thugs to beat her, strip her naked and drag her outside to be exposed in public which they did before leaving.

After hearing her statement, Magistrate Shyllon ordered the court to stand down for a while as he retreated for a closed door meeting with lawyers representing both parties. When sitting resumed after few minuets, both parties were ordered to stay away from each other to avert further acrimony as the matter was adjourned to the 15th December 2008 to allow the complainant continue her testimony.

Representing the complainant was Blyden Jenkins Johnston Snr., whilst Sahid Sesay represented the defendants.
