In order to create a level field of understanding, and to build the capacity and relationship of both the media and the police, the UN family in Sierra Leone, notably the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and United Nations Integrated Peace Building Office in Sierra Leone (UNIPSIL) will on Monday the 15th December 2008 sponsor three days workshop on the theme "Strengthening Police and Media Relationship in Sierra Leone."

This disclosure was made by the Police Media Boss, Inspector Ibrahim Samura in an exclusive chat with this medium on Thursday December 11, 2008 at his George Street Office in Freetown. He said the workshop is aimed at enhancing mutual trust between the police and the media as partners in the promotion of peace and stability in post conflict Sierra Leone. "It is also aimed at creating a free flow of information from the police to the media and the general public," he said.

Inspector Samura further iterated that the workshop is expected to promote a better understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the two institutions.

The three-day session schedules to be held at the Senior Police Officers Mess, Kingtom, is expected to attract sixty participants, forty of them to be drawn from both the electronic and print media, seventeen from the SLP and three from civil society organizations across the country.
