Background

Sierra Leone Investment and Export Promotion Agency is a government institution established under the Sierra Leone Investment and Export Promotion Agency Act No. 2 of 2007 to promote investments and exports in Sierra Leone.

It will engage in extensive promotion activities, develop policies conducive to private sector development and offer support to increase economic activity across the country.

Applications are invited from suitable Sierra Leoneans to fill in the following positions:

Position: Chief Executive

Strategic functionIn association with the Chairman and Board members to:

Provide overall leadership for the agency
Develop vision and strategy for the long-term health and success for the organization
Monitor operational and financial performance
Execute strategy and achieve organizational goals
Ensure effective, efficient and economic use of human, financial and physical resources
Engages constructively with other relevant organizations and agencies locally and internationally
Develop the corporate image of the organization

Operational Function

Being the most senior executive of the Sierra Leone Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SLIEPA), the Chief Executive will take on the overall responsibility for the management of the agency. More specifically,

To implement the strategic goals and objectives of the organization
Informing and consulting with the Chairman on all matters of significance to the Board B so that the Chairman and Board can properly discharge their responsibilities
Recommend to the Board significant operational changes and major capital expenditures where these are beyond his delegated authority
To give direction and leadership toward the achievement of the organizations philosophy, mission, strategy, and its annual goals and objectives
Plan and direct the organizations activities to achieve stated/agreed targets and standards for financial and trading performance, quality, culture and legislative adherence
Recruit, select and develop executive team members, functions and performance via the executive team
Maintain and develop organizational culture, values and reputation in its markets and with all staff, customers, suppliers, partners and regulatory/official bodies
Report to the Board on organizational plans and performance
Execute the responsibilities of a company director according to lawful and ethical standards

Experience, Knowledge & Skills

Significant and or related work experience in investment promotion and or export development
Achievement at a senior managerial level
Evidence of contributing to effective systems of performance monitoring and evaluation
Familiarity with the management and control of budgets Ability to manage people within a formal appraisal structure
An effective communicator - innovative, creative and forward-thinking
Commitment to equality and diversity
An appreciation of the main social, political, technological and economic and environmental issues currently affecting the organization
Enthusiasm to achieve further growth and progress
Must be adept in the use of MS Office 2000 or later, particularly Excel and Word, and ideally Access or similar database to basic level, internet and email.

Must possess a Masters degree or equivalent professional qualification in economics, corporate strategy, business marketing and communication, business administration and must have at least five years of appropriate business related experience or a combination of six years education/full time business related work knowledge.

Personal situation

Mature and domestically secure. Willing and able to spend some time away without upsetting domestic situation. Able to commute reliably to office base. Able and willing to work extended hours on occasion when required
May be striving financially but not desperate or in serious debt
