Those Who Wish to Separate S.E. Berewa from A.T. Kabbah

No person who truly cares for the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) and by extension, for the survival of Sierra Leones democracy, will wish to fire up any flames of dissent between the two former Leaders of the SLPP, Ahmad Tejan Kabbah and Solomon Ekuma Berewa.

It is a fact that the Legacy that the SLPP will primarily wish to use to campaign with, in 2012 and even beyond, is that left behind NOT by Sir Milton Margai and the other Founding Fathers of the SLPP but that left behind by Dr. Ahmad Tejan Kabbah and his able lieutenant, Solomon Ekuma Berewa. Like any entity, they made their negative mistakes but the positive legacies of this duo are legion and are not just limited to bringing peace and a sustainable democratic climate to this my beautiful country. I have written and spoken of this point in private and in public until my fingers hurt and my voice is hoarse.

This is why I am once again calling on those people inciting to higher levels, the mild feud (between Berewa and his former boss, Kabbah) to cease and desist if they truly love Sierra Leone and the SLPP. Pa Kabbah and Pa Berewa are two powerful men who have large support bases individually but who can collectively enjoy an even larger support base if they both put aside their egos, bury the past, let bygones be bygones and dissolve the Kabbah-Berewa misunderstanding.

The SLPP cannot survive with a Kabbah faction and a Berewa faction. It will disintegrate because united SLPP stands and divided it falls! And if the SLPP falls and fails to exist as a vibrant opposition party, Sierra Leones democracy is doomed, doomed, doomed. The PMDC is just a phenomenon brought about by human disgruntlement; it is not really a political party (just my opinion please!) so if the SLPP falls apart, our beautiful land is doomed to retrogress.

So, let those who wish to serve their self-seeking interests by fanning up the flames of dissent between Kabbah and Berewa know that some of us love Sierra Leone too much to sit down quietly and watch them succeed. Let those with ears, open them wide and heed my advise to them. May God Bless Sierra Leone!
