A British national, Nick Foster, yesterday morning at about 3:30am, met his untimely death when gun men believed to be armed robbers, raided his Bolling Street residence at Kingtom in Freetown, and shot him dead.

The deceased, according to reports, arrived in the country sometime last year, and is said to have been a businessman dealing in second hand television sets and other electrical appliances.

In an interview with the Director of the Police Media Department, Inspector Ibrahim Samura at his George Street office, he confirmed that the incident did take place and that the police are busy trying to locate those behind what he described as a dastardly act.

He disclosed that at the moment, only inmates of the house where in the incident occurred have been invited to the police for interrogation, adding that the police will leave no stone unturned in its efforts to bring those behind the crime to book.

Among the inmates currently helping the police in their investigations is Julian Johnson, a British-Jamaican, who is said to be the deceaseds best friend.

He referred to the situation as serious, but urged the citizenry of the country not to be scared as the police are in control of the security of the state.

He also called for information leading to the arrest of the assassins, noting that the police alone cannot do the work.

The British High Commission in Sierra Leone is yet to make any official statement in respect of the brutal murder of the national.
