Sierra Leone's Finda Koroma Fires Back at Liberian Media over Email Scandal

To Whom It May Concern

12th January 2009

This is to confirm that my name is Finda Koroma, Executive Director of F.K. Consulting Inc.

I have been in the consulting business intermittently for a number of years. I am a Barrister-at Law and hold an LI.M degree from Trinity Hall, Cambridge University and M.B.A. from Harvard Graduate School of Business. Please find attached a copy of my resume for your kind information.

I consult for a range of companies, more recently for Cellcom Holdings for the acquisition of telecommunication licences in the Democratic Republic of Congo and in Sierra Leone.

On 26th of August 2008, I sent an email message to my bankers at EcoBank Sierra Leone notifying them of a pre-payment of consulting fees pertaining to my assignment with Cellcom in the DRC. The payment was to cover the cost of legal fees, fees for the financial consultants undertaking due diligence, fees for the incorporation of the joint venture company and a pre-payment of my consulting fees, in compliance with my agreement. Attached is a draft consulting contract I negotiated with Cellcom Holdings in this regard.

The purported email that has been published in the Frontpage website is distorted and malicious for the following reasons:

Firstly, the email of 26th August 2008 was sent from my home computer in Houston, Texas. I entered the United States on 18 August 2008 and returned to Sierra Leone on 9 September 2008. Please find attached copies of the relevant entry stamps in my passport. I am happy to submit the hard drive of my computers to any investigating committee. Therefore, I could not have used a computer in Liberia when I was not in the country. My only travel to Liberia was in October 2008.

Secondly, the culprits maliciously printed part of the email and not the entire email message that specifically refers to the fact that the fees were in consideration for my consulting assignment with Cellcom with regard to work in the DRC.

Thirdly, I am a highly qualified professional and have worked as an international consultant for some time. Frankly, I do not see any relevance between my consulting work on behalf of clients in the DRC or any other country with being the sister in law of the President of Sierra Leone, a situation that only came about when my brother in law won the elections in Sierra Leone in September 2007.

Fourthly, once again, I do not see the relevance between my consulting work with Cellcom in the DRC and Sierra Leone with any issues relating to Cellcom in Liberia because I have no contractual obligation with Cellcom Liberia. Additionally, why should I share my consulting fees that were legitimately earned for work in one country with any individual in a third country?

In conclusion, I am happy to clarify any other issues that could come up relating to this matter but I see the publication of this article in FrontPageAfrica as mere mischief with malicious intent. Most of all, it is a deliberate breach of privacy with intent to smear reputable people.

I reserve my rights to take legal action against the editors and publishers of FrontPage at any point in time.
