The District Mini Convention by the opposition Sierra Leone People’s Party has ended well yesterday Sunday February 1st 2009 with the chairmanship position being won by Mr. Ousman Bangura and the Young Generation leader position was also won by Mr. Alimamy Bangura. Other positions such as Secretary General and Financial Secretary were also chosen. The Consultative Convention ended very peacefully and was done in a free and fair manner. It was chaired by Dr. Abass Bundu, who gave a brief history of the foundation and formation of the party during which he revealed that the SLPP was formed by Northerners. Bundu said the SLPP was not a mende man party but one for all Sierra Leoneans.

Also present were SLPP stakeholders such as Festus Kargbo, Dr. Alpha Wurie, M.A. Jalloh, Hon. Alpha Timbo, Haja Sillah and Obai Kabia.

Before the start of the elections, the above mentioned stakeholders first ensured that all the former positions to be contested for were dissolved to ensure a peaceful, free and fair election as they belived that the SLPP is a respecter of Democratic principles.

After the elections, the losers congratulated winners of the various executive positions for SLPP’s Port Loko District Executive. Traditional dancers also did their contribution by performing cultural dancing .

The new chairman, Ousman Bangura thanked every member and gave hope that the 2012 election will be won by their party the SLPP.

He created a new Slogan, which goes thus: "SLPP 2012, Sharp 12 back to power".
