Where is Our Beloved Country Sierra Leone Heading For???

Majority of Sierra Leoneans were hoping that upon his assumption of office, His Excellency the President, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, will effect considerable changes that will not only make life better for the people, but at the same time devise strategies that will ginger a change of attitude amongst citizens.

Sad to note however that we are yet to see that happen, after one year in office.

What has as a matter of fact baffled many Sierra Leoneans across the country, is that the opposite, rather than the desired, is what is being experienced at the moment by the vast majority of the people.

Apart from the harsh economic realities that seem to be biting most citizens from across the board, cases of unlawful conducts perpetuated by miscreants, some of whom are hiding under the very banner of the political order in place, seem to have become the order of the day.

What is even more baffling is the resurrection of the long forgotten you know who that nar me slogan.

The level of impunity around the country seems to have taking a turn for the worse, and so too is the administration of justice which doesnt seem to favour people without access to the corridor of power and especially those perceived as anti-APC.

The recent verbal and attempted physical attack on the person of Dr. Sylvia Olayinka Blyden of the Awareness Times Newspaper by thugs acting under the direct instructions of one morose-looking opportunist called Alfred T. Gbakima (who is believed to be taking advantage of his friendship with Vice President Alhaji Chief Samuel Sam Sumana), is a clear case in point.

Most of the lofty promises made by the now ruling party during the campaigning, are yet to be fulfilled, and rather, citizens are subjected to unwarranted harassment and intimidation by elements believed to be associated with the current regime.

Sometimes one is left with no option but to enquire about the whereabouts of our popularly elected President, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, in order to ascertain whether he is actually in control of things or is simply operating in his own world.

This is so because many odd things are taking place across the country that are inimical to the peace and quiet we are currently enjoying, but without him coming down strong to assert his authority and to make things go in the direction he had earlier promised. Its a real course for concern indeed.
