APC Election Ends in South

The All Peoples Congress (APC), has ended three strategic mini conventions in Bo, Moyamba and Bonthe Districts, all in the southern province.

The conventions were meant to elect new executive structures to oversea the day-to-day operations of the party in those districts. The conventions are said to have taken place in other parts of the country, with isolated cases of violence reported particularly in the north.

In Bo, Sheik Sillah, the APC Bo District Chairman who also doubles as Deputy Regional Chairman South, was re-elected to continue serving in that capacity, whilst Yagba Bangura and Syl Goba were elected Chairmen of Moyamba and Bonthe Districts respectively.

The processes are said to have gone on peacefully and transparently, with top party officials from State House and the APC Secretariat joining the Resident Minister South, Musa Tarawalie, to ensure that everything goes on as planned.

In an interview with the re-elected Chairman of Bo District, Sheik Sillah, he pointed out that his re-election comes as no surprise because as he puts it, "I have worked so hard to keep the banner of the APC flying high in a district once thought to be a stronghold of the now opposition Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP)".

He pledged his continued loyalty to the ruling APC, saying he will never relent in his poise to turn Bo city red, come the 2012 presidential and parliamentary elections.

He assured APC supporters in the district that he will use his good office to usher in much needed development in the district, pointing out that he hopes to do that through lobbying.

He heaped praises on the "able" Resident Minister South, Musa Tarawalie, who he said has worked so hard for the party that some people are now thinking that he has been with the APC for over ten years.

He also recognized the efforts made by the partys scribe, Victor Bockarie Foh, who he noted witnessed the three conventions in the district and played a pivotal role in ensuring that the policies of fair play and transparency were upheld.
