Passers-by along the Freetown Cotton Tree, were yesterday amazed at the sight of twenty-nine (29) year old Marie Kamara, who gave birth to four bouncing babies after an eleven (11) months pregnancy, but had been abandoned by her husband, Kenneth Swarray.

A huge crowd of people gathered over the head of Marie Kamara, asking various questions and demanding to know who the father is.

Many were surprised to see a young woman giving birth to four babies. "God wonderful, tra day nar three, now nar four" (God is wonderful; years past women used to give birth to three babies at the same time now its four).

In an exclusive interview with Marie Kamara, she informed this press that she is engaged to a thirty-two year old man called Kenneth Swarray, with whom she has been living for years and with whom she bore the babies.

She said they were living somewhere in the provinces until they were forced to move on to Freetown by the rebel war.

She said both herself and her husband have lived at the Grafton Displaced Camp for several years, and that she became pregnant eleven months ago for the said man.

According to her, they were living in peace despite hardship, and were desperate to have a child.

She said even when it was time for her to deliver, it was her husband who accompanied her to the Princess Christian Maternity Hospital (PCMH) - Cottage, in Freetown.

On hearing that she has delivered four babies, she said her husband suddenly disappeared into thin air, and is yet to resurface.

"He ran away because of the responsibility", Marie Kamara categorically said, adding that she has deemed it fit to embark on begging in order to be able to take care of the babies.

"A lot of women out there are looking for just one child from God, but here am I, a poor girl, with four at the same time", she said.

She vowed to do her utmost to take care of the children, expressing optimism that her husband will one day bounce back.

The two sets of twins comprise of two boys and two girls.
