Liberian Government set to exonerate Finda Koroma of Sierra Leone

An authentic Letter has been made available to Awareness Times Newspaper from our sources at the Liberian Ministry of Justice. It was addressed to the Liberian Minister of Justice and was personally signed by President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf herself. It indicates Johnson-Sirleaf's strong desire to ensure that the undue scandal that poor Finda Koroma of Sierra Leone has been swathed in, comes to a cessation. Whilst we can verify that the letter is authentic, we have not been able to get in touch with Finda Koroma.

The Executive Mansion Letter follows:

EJS/MOS/RL/075/09                                                 February 12, 2009

Cllr. Phillip Z. Banks

Minister of Justice

Ministry of Justice

Monrovia, Liberia

Dear Minister Banks,

In follow up to the Dunn Commission Report, I wrote to the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) requesting that they take responsibility for follow up on the recommendation of the report. I have now been advised by the Chairman of the Commission that the legislation governing the LACC wil l not permit them to do so. A copy of the letter is attached.

In light of this, and the fact that I consider the Dunn Commission to have cleared you in the matter, perhaps the Ministry of Justice can now take responsibility to follow up. This might mean the appointment of a Special Prosecutor as suggested by the LACC.

One of the issues on which follow up is necessary and urgent has to do with the implication of Finda Koroma of Sierra Leone by [her] use of my computer in my home that brought out a transaction referred in the report which had nothing to do with Liberia. After your Ministrys inquiry, she would like for the Government to make a statement that clears her as this matter is carried on the Internet causing great harm to her personal and professional reputation. I will ask Chairman Johnson Morris to send you all the documentation which we submitted to her some of which clarifies the issue relating to Ms. Koroma.

Sincerely,

Ellen Johnson Sirleaf
