The National Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Task Force was set up by the Government of Sierra Leone to provide strategic recommendations on the enabling policies, the necessary institutional framework and the catalyst projects that will result in a more effective, efficient and harmonized performance of the ICT sector. The NICT-TF is a public-private-peoples partnership that reflects HIS Excellency the Presidents vision as he adopts information and communication technologies (ICT) as a priority agenda of his Government, in recognition of the pivotal role ICT can play in achieving Sierra Leones aspiration for improved socio- economic status in todays global society.

Implementation of the ICT policy will play a pivotal role in achieving many of the GoSLs national development of appropriate skills and expertise within the local workforce

The ICT Task Force which is chaired by the Vice President, Honourable Alhaji Chief Sam-Sumana and co-chaired by the Minister of Information and Communication, Hon Alhaji Ibrahim Ben Kargbo on Tuesday 17th February, 2009 was launched at the British Council Hall in Freetown.

The Government of Sierra Leone (GoSL) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) are conducting a 10 day E-Readiness survey all over the country from the 18th February- 27the February, 2009.

The E-Readiness survey is to determine the countrys starting point in terms of ICT, and it serves as an initial phase of a national ICT strategic planning process. The E-Readiness survey will also provide information on the current state of ICT preparedness within Sierra Leone.

The survey will use both quantitative and qualitative research techniques covering selected target groups in the entire 12 districts and Western Area.

The overall objective of the survey is to collect, analyse and disseminate information on the current state of ICT preparedness in Sierra Leone.

The media and the general public are invited to the launching of the NICT-TF and encouraged to cooperate with the surveyors.
