Dr. Kargbo pointed out that the national response group depends so much on the Global Fund, noting that the fund contributes 90% in the fight against HIV/AIDS in the country.

He described the Round 6 Programme as very critical, and called on the recipients to continue the good work in the fight against the deadly disease.

Earlier in his remarks, Chairman of the Occasion, Dr. Momoh Sesay said the workshop is very important and timely, noting that the meeting is summoned at the end of every year. "It is an annual event organized to deliberate on recipientís achievements, challenges, and to map out the way forward", he revealed.

Global Fundís Head of the National Committee on Monetary and Evaluation HIV/AIDS, Mr. Lamin reiterated that the contribution of Global Fund towards the fight of HIV/AIDS in Sierra Leone amounted for the most. He however commended the efforts of recipients of the fund, whilst expressing the Fundís commitment of continued funding for Sierra Leone.

He emphasized that the intervention of the fund in the fight against the deadly disease in Sierra Leone have significantly contributed to the low prevalence of the disease.

In her statement, Country Coordinator of the joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) Mulunesh Tennagashaw said the event records another evidence in the response rate of the country. She said securing resources from the Global Fund and other partners is one aspect, whilst noting that the most important aspect is the judicious utilization of the fund.

Madam Tennagashaw pointed out that such forum will also provide an opportunity for the creation of new partnerships and strengthening of existing ones. She assured the recipients that the UNAIDS is always willing to lend it support towards the fight against the deadly disease.
