In an interview with the Crime Officer of the Lumley Police Division, Sylvester Koroma, he informed that Papanie has been a bone of contention to the police and a threat to the society, especially in the area called Kamayamah, a small settlement in the outskirt of Lumley, in the far west of the city.
He said several reports have been filtering in about a number of crimes being perpetrated by the captured criminal, with some of them ranging from larceny, armed robbery to wounding. His reports are in almost all police stations across the city, reports say.
This according to police accounts placed him in the most wanted list of criminals, whose rightful abode is at the Pademba Road Maximum prisons.
The Crime Officer further stated that this criminal has been terrorizing the residents of Aberdeen, Lumley, Wilberforce and other parts of the city. Explaining how his capture came about, the office informed that they got a tip off leading to his location at the hill top of Kamayama village, where he was eventually captured after a successful raid that was headed by the Crime Officer himself.
He is presently under police custody, helping them to locate the rest of his criminal gang.
The Local Unit Commander of the Division, Chief Superintendent Alhaji Kabbah Kamara, also informed that he has lined up mechanisms to go after criminals within his area of responsibility, and vowed to provide the most peaceful atmosphere for residents in the communities affected by the activities of criminal gangs.
Following the capture of Papanie, thousands of Lumley residents lined up the main Regent Road area to cheer up the police for what they referred to as a laudable move.
"May God continue to promote the LUC of Lumley for his efforts in arresting miscreants, whose interest is to terrorize the lives of peaceful citizens", they are quoted as saying.
