APC wins Bye-Elections in Pujehun, Southern Sierra Leone

The ruling All People's Congress party in Sierra Leone has won a clear victory over their rival SLPP party in today's Local Council Bye-Elections held in Ward 232 of Pujehun District.

The controversial elections was initially cancelled following an eruption of violence allegedly perpetuated by Police Officers and ruling party officials. The elections was successfully held today and the preliminary results from our reporters on the ground indicates that the APC has won with a relatively comfortable margin.

All previous elections of recent times held in this particular Ward 232 had seen the SLPP win over 90% of the votes. This time, it was a shocker. An example of how things have turned can be seen in the polling station where the APC scored the highest number of votes. Although the SLPP was neck to neck in many of the other polling stations, in this particular station, our reporters say the counters recorded OVER 300 votes for the APC and just 32 votes for the SLPP.

We will bring you the reactions and comments from both the APC and the SLPP in our Monday's edition.
