The First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Mrs. Sia Nyama Koroma arrived in Bo District on Thursday 9th April 2009 to sympathise with the family and people of Boís Kakua Chiefdom over the death of their Paramount Chief, Rashid Kamanda Bongay IV.
On Good Friday 10th April 2009, the First Lady visited with the bereaved family to express her heartfelt sympathy on behalf of her husband His Excellency President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma and the entire Koroma family.
First Lady Sia Koroma highlighted the faithful and dedicated services offered by the late P.C. Kamanda Bongay to her own late father Abu Aiah Koroma. She reiterated how firmly the late Chief stood by the side of her family during the funeral rites of her father. Against this backdrop, she went on, she explained that she could not send a representative but rather was in Bo herself in person to pay her last respects.
The niece of the late chief who expressed thanks for the visit urged the First Lady to continue her laudable work in Nation building which work has made her to become admired all over the country and the world at large.
Whilst in Bo, Mrs. Sia Koroma met and discussed with the paramount chiefs of Bo at the Presidential Lodge during which she stressed the importance of traditional rulers in the sustenance of peace and promotion of development. She thanked the Chiefs for their support to her Initiative to reduce the rate of infant mortality.
Sia Koroma admonished Bo to stay united for their districtís development.
