One of the strongmen in the erstwhile NPRC military junta that overthrew the APC some seventeen years ago in April 1992, is now one of the APC strongmen in the United States of America. Idriss Kamara, former NPRC turned to APC strongman, who retired from the Sierra Leone Army as a Lt. Colonel, jetted into Sierra Leone yester-night Tuesday April 14th 2009 on board an SN Brussels flight.
Kamara, who now heads probably the most important branch of the APC in the USA, the Washington DC branch where the APC Headquarters is located, recently spent a substantial amount of his time revealing details about what he believed to be the modus operandi of his former colleagues in the NPRC who are now the strongmen in the opposition Sierra Leone Peopleís Party (SLPP).
Speaking last week after the North America branchís mini-convention, Idriss Kamara revealed his anti-SLPP stance and his strong support for the APC Leader President Koroma when he reportedly stated: "It is now incumbent on one and all to continue providing support to the Leader of the party and President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Dr. Ernest Koroma. I want to call on all APC members to be vigilant, despite the wicked propaganda being pursued by the opposition SLPP. I also call on all to devise more positive approaches to counter the SLPPís attempts to besmear the name of the country internationally".
At the airport yesterday, where Idriss Kamara used to be the junta man overseeing the airport on behalf of the NPRC Strasser Government, the former NPRC strongman was given a royal VIP welcome by Government employees at the Airport.
Idriss Kamara is coming in to Sierra Leone as one of the overseas APC members who have been streaming into town to witness and participate in the upcoming APC Grand Convention slated to start tomorrow up in the northern town of Makeni in the Bombali District. Another NPRC man now in APC is Karefa Kargbo.
