Councilor Takes Development to Fallah Wando

Local tabloids have revealed that Councilor Memunatu Wandor Nya Kemokai of ward 18 Kenema District Council has, with government support, embarked on several development projects in Fallah Wandor. The projects include the construction of schools in villages like Kamboma, Ngobubu, Sangaru and Gbapi Kamandu. She is also reported to have organized Womens groups at Kamboma, Ngobubu and Sangaru in the Kenema District.

BKPS Under Fire

Reports say the management of the Bo- Kenema Power Services (BKPS) is in recent times reportedly faced with criticism from consumers for increasing electricity bills by 50%. Stakeholders, including civil society groups, are said to have in no uncertain terms condemned the increment. Reports have alleged that the 50% increment was approved by Government through Parliament to the BKPS.

Cause Canada Sierra Leone Consolidates Peace in Kenema

The West Africa Peace Building Project, in collaboration with the Eastern Region Peace Building Committee, with support from Cause Canada, have reportedly ended a two-day consultative meeting in Kenema. The purpose of the meeting was to enhance a national and regional ownership of the peace building process of women, youths and civil society organizations. The project, according to Madam Doris Kanneh, is going for two years and will target stakeholders on national issues in their respective communities.

2 Armed Robbers in Police Net

Two alleged armed robbers, Mohamed Kamara and Abu Bakarr Koroma have reportedly been arrested alongside two motor bikes at Alpha Morlai Junction, Kissy, east end of Freetown. Reports say the two armed robbers were arrested when they break into an electrical equipment shop. It has been alleged that the gun that was used by robbers was given to them by an OSD personnel.

Police in Child Cruelty Scam

The matter of Kadiatu Conteh, whose hands were allegedly set ablaze by Woman Police Constable (WPC), Fatmata Kargbo of Kuntoloh Police Post, since February 2009, is still in court. Police Prosecutor, Inspector Dunia R.B. has reportedly disclosed that prosecution has been deprived of getting access to the witnesses of the victim. Presiding Magistrate Alford Fidawi of Court No. 2 has ordered that the prosecution will prepare a subpoena for the victim to appear before the court, and explain her ordeal in the next adjourned date.

Okada Accident Leaves One Dead, 2 Seriously Wounded

One Fuad Kamara of Wilkinson Road Freetown has reportedly met his untimely death, whilst John Komkand and Abdala Bangura sustained very serious injuries, when two motor bikes collided at a road junction in Lungi. The seriously injured victims were rushed to the hospital were they are presently said to be in critical conditions. The Lungi Police Traffic Division is said to have disclosed that the accident was as a result of over speeding.

Islamic Daawaa Mission React to Ghost Teacher Scam

The Islamic Daawaa Mission in Sierra Leone has reportedly sacked the ring leader of the ghost teachers syndicate recently unearthed in some of their primary and secondary schools in the provinces. The Ministry of Education presiding over the investigation has deemed it necessary to dismiss all those involved in the main siphoning of these fictitious funds. One Serry Abdul, who is reportedly the main signatory to all school cheques, has been sacked and asked to refund the money he allegedly embezzled or to face the Anti Corruption Commission.
