As a True Sierra Leonean I
believe Sierra Leone
is a country of one family. A typical look at this country will obviously
reveal that Sierra Leoneans are all related in terms of family connection. It
is for this reason Sierra Leoneans must watch over each other as brothers and
sisters.

Fomer President Tejan Kabba |
In recent times, Political
leaders are bent on changing that relationship and turn it into madness and
stark enmity. Those that are supposed to be the servants and symbol of peace are
the ones that are encouraging the split in the society to become even the more bigger.
Since the APC
government took over power a lot of tribal changes have taken place within the
government. This divide before now had drastically changed under President
Kabbah’s regime. There was somehow equitable distribution of key positions to
every citizen in the country and that was the reason why under the past SLPP of Tejan Kabbah, Brima Acha Kamara
(Inspector General of Police), a Limba from Bombali was chosen instead of O.B.M. Somassa, a Mende from Pujehun.
Since the
APC came to power, civil servants have blatantly and openly been spotted in
spheres of politics. In Makeni for example, Military officers were seen singing the
APC victory song. That was a blatant
manifestation of being politically manipulated which is not supposed to happen
within the army. Before that, and when the results of the election was announced
Police officers were pictured and shown on international televisions
jubilating.
Right now, all appointments just show the level at which sectionalism is being encouraged by
the leadership of the APC.

President Ernest Bia Koroma |
It must be noted that the
APC “cannot” be able to rule this country with the kind of strategy they have
implored. Massive sacking of civil servants that do not belong to the APC or do not come from special
sections of the strongholds of the APC, will not cure the dire need of development
for the country.
Sierra
Leone must be seen as a country that has come
out of conflict and bitterness and is once more striving to gain her position in the world. President Ernest Koroma
must not encourage those guys that are around him telling him to suppress those
that do not belong to either the APC or the North. He must be himself as
President Kabbah resisted members of the SLPP for the goodness of the country.
The style and pattern adopted by this particular government will not do any
good for the country; President Koroma must stand against that and tell the APC
he is for this country not for the APC and Makeni. The APC is bound to be
kicked out of power in 2012 if they continue in this pattern; there is no doubt about
that.
To be continued
