The formal launching of the website, www.salonejamboree.com, will take place today at a grand ceremony to be held at the British Council hall in Freetown.

www.salonejamboree.com is a response to the call for access to authentic, credible and timely information on the growing entertainment industry in Sierra Leone.
The site is an online publication dedicated to promoting Sierra Leone’s music and film industries, arts and craft, culture and tourism.
The site is managed by professional journalists at home and abroad, who are passionate about showcasing the great potentials and talents from this our small West African country.
Speaking to the Awareness Times, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Founder of www.salonejamboree.com, Journalist Murtala Mohamed Kamara, said the initiative forms part of the Agenda for Change for the better.
He referred to the official launching of the website which has been in full test operation for the past couple of months, as a remarkable event which he said will go down in history as the first move by local journalists to market their country both locally and internationally, using entertainment and information as components of the engine to achieve the goal.
He said the overriding objective of the website is to educate and inform people around the world about the daily happenings in Sierra Leone, and particularly to contribute in developing a formidable music industry in the country.
Speaking further, Journalist Murtala Mohamed Kamara maintained that the first 30 people who will enter the hall where the launching will take place will get free snap shots and their photographs posted on the website, if they so wish.
He said a number of distinguished personalities would be attending the launching, among whom is the Minister of Tourism and Culture, Hindolo Trye, who will do the formal launching, the Deputy Minister of Information and Communication, Haja Saidatu Sesay, Dr. Julius Spencer of Premier Media and Sierra Leone’s Musical Icon, Jimmy Bangura, popularly known as Jimmy B.
The President of the Cassette Sellers Association is also expected to grace the remarkable occasion.
