PMDC Chairman Resigns from Attitudinal Change

 

Reports have it that the Chairman of the Peoples Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC), Mohamed Bangura has resigned from his position of Coordinator of Attitudinal and Behavioral Change. According to reports, the resignation was as a result of the recent elections of the PMDC that saw Mohamed Bangura being elected as National Chairman of the party. His resignation has already been tendered to the President, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma.

 

Water Shortage at the Port Loko Government Hospital

 

It has been reported that the main referral hospital in the Port Loko District is facing serious water problems. The hospital greatly relies on people to fetch water from external forces for patients admitted at the hospital. The authorities are reportedly calling on the government and non governmental organizations to cater for the hospitals dire need for the well being of the patients.

 

Gaddafis Mosque Opens

 

The newly built Gaddafi mosque has been formerly opened at Rokupa in Freetown. According to reports, it was President Gaddafi who provided funds for the construction of the mosque. The mosque would serve as a teaching center to further strengthening the Islamic doctrine.Muslims from around Sierra Leone have lauded the bold step taken by the Libyan President.

 

Guma Faces Another Set Back

 

The Guma Valley Water Company (GVWC), that is responsible for supplying water to Freetown and it environs, has reportedly faced another set back due to a damage on it main 28 inch diameter pipe. It was alleged that the damage was course by the CSE Road Contraction Company working on the peninsular Road. The damage occurred at Angola Town and is currently affecting residents in Freetown.

 

50 Prison Officers Get Certificates

 

Reports have disclosed that 50 officers of the Sierra Leone Prisons Department have received training from the Special Court of Sierra Leone on control and restrain. The officers were trained at the Sierra Leone Special Court Centre. According to reports, the trainees can now handle any situation on control and restrain in the country.

 

Youths Observed International Day in Sierra Leone

 

The National Youth Coalition (NYC) has reportedly observed the International Day of Youths, a global event which was geared towards inspiration to accepting the principals and convention building youths dynamics. Reports say NYC is planning to take Sierra Leone into the central stage of global activities; NYC is reportedly determined to march from Freetown to Yenga in a peaceful and democratic expedition as part of its activities.

 

Port Loko Youths Protest against Chairman

 

Reports have it that youths in Port Loko District have demonstrated against the Port Loko District Council (PLDC) Chairman for the absence of development in the district. The youths alleged that the Chairman, Ahmid Munu Fofana was not working in the interest of the people, adding that he was not accountable or transparent even with councilors of the district. The chairman has since denied the allegations.
