40 Feet Container in Road Accident

An Unregistered truck that was carrying a twenty feet container full of timber logs had reportedly lost control at Savage Square in Freetown and laded on its back. Nobody was reported killed, but several people who tried to escape from the accident were said to have sustain bruises. It was reportedly alleged that most truck drivers are always drunk when driving containers.

Disabled Organization Cries for Help

Ernest Rehabilitation Centre for Disabled Girl (ERCDG) in Makeni is reportedly calling on donors and Government to help in its developments. The Organization is a poverty reduction establishment that inspires disabled to become self reliance in the society. Reports say, the North has the highest percentage of disabled persons in the Country.

NRA Receipt Stolen at Income Tax Department

Local tabloids have alleged that the National Revenue Authority (NRA) receipt books under the eyelid of the Income Tax Department of NRA have been mysteriously stolen and an attempt to trace them has proved futile. The receipt contains a transaction between 2008 to date in respect of Withholding and PAYE Tax for several Business Houses, Institutions and NGOs. According to reports, it was alleged that the NRA is requesting from all those who pay such tax to the Income Tax Department to help them with photocopies of their original receipts.

Pregnant Woman Raped by Seven Students

A pregnant woman (name withheld) had reportedly been raped by seven students attending the Government Secondary School Madina in the Thonko Limba Chiefdom Kambia District. According to reports, the woman was coming from a nearly stream when the student dragged her into the nearby bush and sexually abused her. The community is reported to be one of the most trouble spots in the Country.

JABC Makeni Branch launched

Reports have revealed that the Journalists for Attitudinal and Behavioral Change (JABC) recently launched their Northern branch in Makeni. According to reports over 42 Journalists and other stakeholders including the Resident Minister North, Hon Alieu Kamara was present. JABC is a Non-Political Organization that stands for change in Sierra Leone.

Kambia Commemorates Day against Drug Abuse

It has been reportedly revealed that, the United Nations International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking has been commemorated by the National Drug Law Agency in Kambia on the theme "Do Drugs Control Your Life Your Community, No Place for Drugs". The aim of the celebration, reports have it, was to sensitize youths on the dangers of drugs.

Privatization Frustrates Ports

Local tabloids have it that the proposed privatization of Sierra Leones only surviving Seaport has face serious criticism amongst Citizens. According to reports, an Inter-Ministerial Committee has already been set up to source funds to pay workers that will be affected when this institution is finally privatized. Over seventeen million United States Dollars is needed to pay workers benefits.

Flood hits Ward 357

Reports say the Low Cost Housing Estate in Ward 357 Constituency 100 east of Freetown was among communities that suffered from the recent flooding. Properties worth million of Leones were reportedly destroyed and scores of people became homeless. Reports say, poor drainage facilities in the area is believed to have been responsible for the Flooding.
